What is Blog ?
Hey guys ,
As we all are bloggers and maintaining good blogs. But down the line i would like to know how will you define "what a blog is all about ". Please give your personal opinions. NO COPY PASTE FROM ANY OTHER WEBSITE PLEASE
Good question, Due.
Blog means different things to different individuals. For some it is their personal diary wherein they can express their daily/weekly personal opinions on anything which is close to the heart.
For some, this is a way of showing off their expertise in some particular field (like mine in customer service). Self promotion.
For some it is a way of building an individual brand by using all elements of social media which includes blogs as well. For corporates it is an effective way of communicating with employees and customers. For NGOs are blogs are an effective way to spread word of mouth and hence increasing their chances of fund raising.
Then there are huge chunk of people who do not blog themselves but blogs are source of knowledge, information and insipration to them.
I have not touched any technical aspects of blogging because that is not my forte.

@delsone@hermal shah - So you take blog as a part of online commercialisation ....am i right ?
You see, there has to be some source of inspiration to do any activity. Some want to get famous, some what to just give imformation, some do it just for their own satisfaction, and some do it for all above along with for money earned from adverts... i dont think this should only be seen for commercialisation.
I think anything that is user-generated and stays within a certain theme is a blog.
Within a certain theme: Because otherwise it would really not make any sense...
User generated: Therefore personal in content, one-to-one in communication and interaction.
By this, you could imply (and I believe rightly so) that the only difference between a blog and a website is the user-generated content. This is why even Giz, HuffPo and PSD are still blogs at heart.
To me, my blog is an attempt at speaking loud about improving India and Indians. Occasionally I also share humor to keep my readers interested.
Anil one question for you - How much traffic u r getting on your blog on daily basis ???
