Google your Blog title!
What do you see when you key in your blog title in Google?
I did that yesterday and was quite pleasantly surprised to find out that the first result which directs to the home page of my blog showed up 8 sub results below it! (I think it’s a good sign for a site and was quite happy about it 
).
From the total number of results on the search page, 4 were directly from my site. 2 were from connect.in and 1 from digg, bloglovin, addyourblog and wepostalot each. None from Indiblogger though 
Anyways, What about you? Have you tried googling your blog name ever? How many pages does the search result throw up from your site? How many from other sites and which sites are they? If you have never done that, do it right away and do Share the results

There is one more site with a similar name as mine. But guess what, it features nowhere. Google is all mine *evil laughter*
When I googled my blog title ( be the geek) the first 3 results were from my site followed by some youtube video by jason mraz, then "geek advancement", and more irrelevant links (who will be the geek queen??) .
But if I search bthegeek all the relevant links of posts, fb,digg profiles etc turn up. :)
Anyways, I suggest everyone to sign out of their google accounts before searching their blog titles in order to avoid search results customised for you.

So a case of different url and different blog title. I have always wanted to know this - a site with a different url and title... does it affect its performance relative to query searches and all? What is more preferable, same names or does it not matter at all?
My blog has same title and url!

yes, about having different url and blog title, look at digital inspiration ( labnol.org) . It is one of the popular tech websites in india.
So the conclusion is having different url and blog title doesnt matter, content does.

When i type Indiabackpacker one can find at least 2 pages, if one types India backpacker seperately than one can find another copycat by similar name first in the search. Anyways as long as our posts don t clash i don t mind it. Sometimes people tend to twist the spellings backpakker too has been used to imitate, backpackero is another site which is international. Arti it gives clue to another angle, which i am posting as a topic, do check it out.
Yes, that is also one way to look at searches when names are misspelt... how does it affect the reasults. Great Umeshji, 2 pages are dedicated for your blog :) And good work on taking the cue also
On page 1 of search results 8/10 are me with my blog being the first thing listed. I got some links from other girls blogs and one from stumble upon on page one. Not too bad.
Its good :) The age of the blog also plays an important role in this i suppose, but am not sure. How long have you been blogging Kristy?

2nd pos is good! But is it the only one that shows up, dont you have results pointing to your blog from some other directories, etc?
I used to check this frequently to know whether my blog is indexed or not. I can see the latest google bot crawling of my blog. I am using yahoo and bing also to see the differences. I think this is a good practice.
I googled mine (footyntech) I got three direct links to my blog in first page, couple of links from Dzone and some other sites and then in next page couple more links directly to my site and then on link from Indie Blogger! (joined today)
Welcome to IndiBlogger Steve :) What's Dzone, never heard of it! Is it some kind of directory like DMoz?
guys one thing you all should know, your search results are tailored according to you and your previous searches. So if you are looged in to google and do a search you are bound to see your blog in almost the first few pages because google knows its you. Even if you log off google still has ways to capture some information.
If you really want to know your rank, use tools(online) or ask someone of your friends to so that form their pc without logging into google (assuming they dont visit yoyr blog often from that PC as the results will be skewed in your favor )

yeah,thats right. google is cleaver enough to create a profile for each user and then show resulets for him.most of his ineterest.

Madhur, I agree with you, I am trying thorough different browsers and mobile too. Of course without logging in. But I think you don't know me and my blog, so you search Gurukripa, and tell me what happens!
Even without logging in, our ip address record remains there. so our searches are saved I think. So try after clearing history, cache and then see.
The first result is the lyrics to song with the same title by Fallout Boy.
The second result, is my old blog which also had the same title.
So You lose out to Fallout Boy there but second position is also quite good :)
It's a fair defeat. I did usurp their lyric.
@Arti, I've been blogging a little over 2 years but only started promoting my blog a couple of months ago. I put some thought into a unique name though.
My blog's title is ' Internet Tecnology Blog' and right now at first position in Google search results.
That is great :) but what are the other results you see besides the first one?
thats a comoun keyword and still his site is on first page.thats good.
other pages are from different sites i think

about my name, my indi profile is most popular. My political articles are also at good popularity. Especially my article Why only Hunger strike, it was among the rarest international article who oppose hunger strike or hunger drama. Lot of work needed to be done from my side. From your side, please keep visiting. :)
Thanks Arti, many topics are rare so I think it attracts people. Now, techincally also, developed a bit how to keep small titles, and write with important words.

Gosh! It took me three months to figure this reply! Iam sorry Arti.. I had never been back to this site. The problem was that I carried my office laptop which has IE 7 and its a pain to browse Indi on it... with so many restrictions on corporate laptops its difficult to browse through.
And yes I do have many pictures I have taken and good thing, I will post it on my blog. For sure, it is a task am going to do this sunday. Again, really sorry dear for this delayed reply. Thank you very much for your wishes.
