What if u see an unexpected bad-word in a blog?
How wud u react if u see an unexpected expletive in a fellow blog?
I named my blog expletively just fr kicks n initially I thot it ws cool...(of course, I still think its cool ) But nw, after u get followers, u realize tht ur blog is as much your's as it is your followers .. yes, besides the obvious profanity in the title, my blog content is far frm it......but i think I may hv offended many becos of my blogname.. I even came up with an explantion..but it's more a post than tht.
So how do u react to an unexpected bad word in a post?
It'll be nice to knw everyone's opinion
@Raj, I think it depends on the individual. Some might be offended, others may get along with it. Also, the readers can always make out whether usage of swear words in that post is justified or not.
Personally I find excessive usage of profanity very discouraging. Like the sorcerer said, you cant rely on them all the time. but thats my opinion, lets see what others have to say. :)
Thnx fr ur thoughts Abhi...very sensible idea...I guess it's 'to each, his own'
I wonder if thr r blogs whr they use profanity extensively.. wud love 2 read one of 'em just 2 see how it'd look
In India it's always considered kind of cool to use English expletives. :D So if I see an unexpected English expletive in a blog I'd maybe chuckle and think "Ok this person is just following the trends..."..However, if I see an expletive in an Indian language in a blog, I'll laugh and think, "Wow! This guy/girl really has the guts and the sense of humor!"
Well in dat case, fr the sake of guts n humor, I dnt mind changing it to 'MC/BC'love
thnx fr ur puttin in ur thoughts, Sulagna
I would only come to a conclusion after i read the posts, and many a times, fun bloggers do have expletives for a blog name. Nothing wrong in that, but a general perception in India (as Xeno said) is they consider some expletives to be prono blogs/websites.
oopsi! it was The Sorcerer. Sorry bout that
Ya I agree Hemal, u hv a point der.... (takin mental note - need 2 write on more social issues . Coincidentally, my next post is on a social subject...releasin this Friday morning )
I think swear words are fine if thats how you talk. I write as I speak. Well, maybe I tone it down slightly, but not much. Overuse can get a tad boring, but if you content stays good, then it won't matter. May make your posts fun though.
heck, look at gkhamba or flyyoufools- they are both full of "language". I don;t think there is anything wrong with them. They are probably two of the most famous ones, AFAIK, and they use gaalis like nobody's business.
Yup, I agree wid u Rumbaho...like all gud things in life, it finally depends on wht is inside u..or content
Hey Rumba, just checked out flyyoufools...man, the guy roXXX!!! awesum stuff!!
yeah, that is one funny dude.
i guess you already know gkhamba too, right?
gkhamba had an audio podcast in which he intervied the FYF blogger. Boring interview, but shows that even A-holes can be great comics. Or, maybe, only A-holes can become comics.
Haha ...well said, Tys..u rock!!!
Tys, I must say tht i simply loved goin thru ur posts..one day hopefully, I'll hv half the writing talent u hv n I'll b a happy man .
Respect!!!
If that's the only thing you see in a blog, then i guess it's a little discouraging and would move me away from the blog..But sometimes when someone is explaining a situation in a write up, some words have to be used..So i guess it's the need of the situation or a write up sometimes.
