Amended IT act Bloggers in trouble ?
Blogging will never be the same once this act comes into existence. The penalities imposed can be upto Rs 3 crores or upto 3 years imprisonment for the following :
The due diligence specifies that the intermediaries should not display upload, modify or publish any information that is harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, blasphemous, objectionable, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, pornographic, paedophilic, libellous, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, disparaging, racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable, relating to money laundering or gambling.
I am afraid you and me will be able to communicate in future on Indiblogger without fear ? of being punished.
I doubt, since the rules I think is almost same in all country.. Its applicable for News Papers also.. I dont see anything alarming there..
Blogging community should be united to express their dismay and absolute dissent against such draconian laws
Not that I support all what gov says, but here at least, whats draconian in that said statement ?? The statement what is writen in pretty much the same what we learn in school as for what "words" can be used socially and what cant !!!
India legal system would allow some one to defend what proof if needed about what he wrote falls under those sections or not.. We dont have dictetor ship where GIV says the final word.. Gov agency can only accuse you but its up to the court to tag you guilty or not..
@ Hunky, i believe Blogging community should be restrained if they cross their limit vide an automous Forum in the form of Bloggers Council or Arbitration or Panel. This would be ideal solution rather than Cops coming and arresting bloggers
@ Sorcerer Bold fonts avoided sorry for the transgression.
One mans food is another mans poison is quite true, but this amendment should not be misused by the enforcement agencies.
Media sensationalism is primarily because of competition, in blogging community where is the ? of compete unless there are rewards and recognition which is rare
This should be opposed tooth and nail. This is making of a police state. It gives the power to the government to block anything as you see the boundaries are not very clear. So basically it means if you want to point something wrong in governance you can be booked under this. Only thing that has held democracy in India is freedom of expression, this just takes away that. Just imagine ending up in jai for a simple tweet having a Manmohan Singh joke.
Good thinking... I agree with you. This law really instigates us to think again and again before posting anything on the blog because you never know what is waiting for you next. And yes freedom of speech will slowly take the back seat!
First of all please some one give me the link a article of this act... I tried to google but not finding the reliable article on this regulation.
Reading all the specifications mentioned here... I wonder how do we classify things as one among these rules? They are so absurd! What one feels is harmless the other might feel the same as harmful?
I really don't know how do I choose the topic and what to write on my blog here after!
