You and Your Indirank
Indirank -- What does it mean to us, Indibloggers?
How do you look at them? Your standing amongst fellow Indibloggers, a matter of pride, your blog's worth may be or is it just a number for you?
An increase in Indirank is always welcome but what about a drop? Does a decrease in the rank bog you down or do you take it in your stride and motivate yourself to do better next time?
Do you have a tendency to judge other people's blog through their ranks say when promoting posts on indivine, when checking out somebody's profile or do you not notice it even?
I am curious and would really love to know what role does Indirank play in an Indibloggers life??
Please share your thoughts here
rank does give an idea of blog. higher rank surley gives a richness to the blog.
Agree! Rank definitely gives an idea of the blog especially the higher ranked ones. But i think lower rank does not always mean that the blog is bad, what you say?
i am still not able to decide.... what it is for me????..... just a number or something more ???
bcoz unless the norms on which this number is given is not clear there is nothing official about it...... is there any body who can make me clear the rules behind this number allotment.???
i think the people behind this look for frequency of posting (number of posts in a prticular period) rather than anything else....( its my view, may be wrong).....
personally i seldom look for his/her indirank when vist any Blog.... its not that i intentionally overlook but it happens, and no official reason for that.
Yes, Frequency of posting is one of the factors but definitely not the only one. Its combined with others too which we get to see in our dashboard like the alexa rank, GPR, linkbacks, etc.
Sure, it may help you but only till a certain extent and not beyound that. i personally actually like the criteria and take it as an encouragement from the Inditeam to Keep Blogging
to add to what Arti already said, Accessiblity of your Blog RSS feed as well plays a vital role
In all fairness I have always considered a higher Indirank more a function of regularity of posting ( I know I am wrong, Indirank team please forgive my ignorance). But this is what I always thought till one day I decided to read all those beautiful graphs !!!.
Any ways where is the Feb Rank?
I didnt seem to get my Feb rank.. :-( last week it was showing on my dashboard that the next update would be on 25th feb, but it has changed to march.. and I dont see any data for Feb and neither have I got the nu INdiarank :-( why is it so? anybody? Indi-team?
Nobodys got the feb rank Sauvik, it going to come out soon, 5 March perhaps!
I am currently NA and eagerly awaiting my first rank... I am pretty excited about it right now, cant wait for march 5th
@DS you are not guranteed one though. mind ya.. only sometimes it happens though so hold your horses and wait to see if you got one but dont be upset if you dont. If your blog is fairly new then you may take time to get one as well.
Renie and team would like to see this exitement building up every month end.. its lovely to see people get anxious and exited about it..
Agreed....But my dashbd just says indirank not generated for this blog. Pls wait:(
I guess irrespective of the criteria it is still a great EGO Booster to have a high rank. I some time feel like a school kid getting my report card. What do you guys say?
moneyandus.blogspot.com
Agree.. completely
Prasad +1 dude :D correct choice of words to express how even I feel ;)
Absolutely Prasad. I got my indirank for the first time and I am so excited about it :)
Neha
For me Indirank is just a Number . I just seek good blogs/posts on travel and humour no matter what his/her indirank is ?
I joined Indi around Dec 2010, my first indirank was 33(too bad i suppose) then next month, i got my first ever alexa rank and surprisingly my rank jumped to 67 in Jan.. quite a jump considering my site was relatively new, and didnt have too much content. :-)
Check my travel blog
Thanks for yr update Arti:)
Wait .. till april :D
Kidsandcar.blogspot.com jumped from 25 to 64
moneyandus.blogspot.com remains steady at 75
Wow.. congrats prasad on ur 1st blog :)
mine just moved one basis point 74 to 75
Slow and steady wins the race
You will get up, I am sure in the coming months
thanx arti ji, for nice wishes.
Thanks Madhumathi and Arti.
Also Wow for Madhumathi for a fab begining :)
Thankuu :) :)
That's a good start! :) All the best for ur blog :)
That's a big yes for me ... I started blogging quite sometime back ... and you would have guessed I am not a regular blogger. Still when I got the first rank it was 29 ... then I was off the grid for sometime and it even got down to 22 .... That feeling of a falling rank did bog me at that time ... then I got some time to post something ... and guess what my rank improved from 44 to 50 now ... I feel happy about it ... though I have seen people getting a 50+ first rank ... I still dont know how do they do it ... !!! But yes ... when going through other blogs ... I do look for their rank ...
Indiblogger rank is a simple business tactics .Indibloger site won't run as long as bloggers don't post anything here. They give the rankings to motivate people to write and post it here , cross voting , promoting etc ..are all the strategies to keep indiblogger site alive. :)
as a newcomer indirank is interesting and inspiring. i got 50+. to me it doesnot specify how good i am but surely it's a motivator for the livingness of my blog ane that i can uplift my dreams if i work a little harder.
Sancheetha.. u hav a great blog.. with good poems.. :) U'll reach heights!! Keep going..
Cheers ^_^
First of all to be of any guidance the Algorithm followed by Indirank needs to be infallible. I am afraid it is not so and it needs some refinement. For eg, this month's indirank update states that my blog does not have a google rank and goes on to comfort me that it is ok if I am a new blog!! Firstly my blog still enjoys PageRank 2, which fact can be confirmed by anyone by visiting any PR checker site and typing my url http://saraswathan.blogspot.com. Secondly my blog has been there for over 2 years now and how the Indirank tool is not able to find the "Age" of the Blog is surprising. I am not saying "Indirank" is useless. I am just pointing out its shortcomings and the need for improvement. I appeal to Renie Ravin and his excellent team to kindly check these slips pointed out by me. You guys are doing an excellent job and I want you to attain perfection!
Yes, there are definitely a few issues... many people have written that their GPR was not detected properly!
Hope Renie is reading and the Inditeam is working on this
I got a 65. Is it good? Is it like a test's rank? Lower the rank, the better?
Anyway, the rank is affected by google page rank too, which is something I have no idea how to generate. Anyway, I'll still write despite my rank, and I hope people'll read what I write irrespective of my rank :)
65 is good enough... with more writing of quality content it will definitely go up!
GPr is generated automatically as explained below by R Saraswathan
