Second opinion is essential
I strongly believe that we should undergo periodic check ups, but one aspect we tend to ignore is that in case of some problem, we tend to blindly believe the course of treatment suggested by the doctor concerned.
Once my wife was recommended Angiography to test whether her heart is pumping ok or not, since ECG reports were fluctuating. This was a reputed heart institute, currently i am a shareholder of the same. Despite that we refrained in undergoing treatment despite my wife being eligible for full reimbursement from her employer. I believe on the hindsight it is almost 4 years, this step was right.
Secondly i was given a dose of T G TOR, for reducing cholostrol, but it landed up disturbing my grey cells. I started getting symptoms of memory loss. No wonder after research i found out that C drugs are blockbusters in Pharma Industry. I discontinued the drug, doctor was disappointed despite being a family doctor.
So guys always seek second and third opinion and come to decision otherwise one is bound to be in rude shock, we can only regret liesurely. De guide
Cent prencet true and its always better to have more than one opinion and also consult a ayurveda persona to triple the same.
Allopathic doctors consider ayurveda and unani as quacks Lolz nevertheless opinon from them too does not matter. I believe a doctor who does not recommend strong medicine is the one we can trust............rest it is in almighty's hand.
best is proper diet n exercises. then meditation. then a little medication.
One of the best treatment i got was from homeopathic doctor who gave me free treatment, except i had to pay for medicine. Amazing
No, the correct opinion is essential. I would rather have one correct appraisal than twenty bad ones.
Dear Micky who is to certify that it is a correct opinion, i feel one should go to govt hospital for free opinion, second family doctor, third specialist in the field not recommended by family doctor than one can take a final call.
Micky thanks for raking up this topic after a year, seems an important topic ignored by many
I think here is where the role of a family doctor is critical. Having a good family doctor who is well intentioned and is aware of your case history over years and having a network of competent specialists in various aread
i agree with your conclusion that a good ethical family doctor is vital in giving the right guidance
Second opinion is essential when costly or invasive treatments are prescribed.....we should not depend on only one doctor because firstly human error is possible & secondly the mercenary approach of many doctors does cast a cloud of doubt & it is better to verify from another source whether the diagnosis & the line of treatment given to us is correct or not.
I agree with you, you too can share your experience of wrong diagonsis of treatment, if you have come across any
In the western countries, they have sites for reviewing hospitals, clinics and doctors. Of course, we can't get that far in India, but without naming the hospitals/doctors concerned, the clinical methods/diagnosis patterns can and should be discussed on Internet forums. It is important to do research either online or offline and learn from people who have already gone through such situations.
As consumers, its essential that we don't put blind faith on anything, including (and especially) doctors, these days. Western medicines always come with side-effects, that's why.
Very true .
The best way to check out with some doctors or physician whether they are ethical or not, is to check out the cost of treatment, medicine, and assurance on course of treatment. My sister despite warning went to a dentist and spent 47 k for her dental problem, it did not last even 6 months again she had to consult another doctor in PARIS, who said such implants cannot be done with a hurry. The foundation has to heal for 3 months before the implant can be undertaken. Morale of the story never go for quickfix.
Thank you Umesh for sharing all this information-it helps a lot. Got to survive somehow !!
