Why do we blog?

Sharing ideas, information, knowledge, experience, questions, answers...

Information exchange ensures we remain "intelligent" and blogging is another avenue for this sort of exchange.

On a serious note though - I agree with the Nutty Martian, that's probably the most common incentive to start blogging.

I can't quite figure why I started.  But it's now continue or die the blogger's death. That's not really a glorious death is it?

We Blog to Share our Ideas, Creativity, Knowledge, feeling, Research & emotions..... It also feels grt, when our work is appreciated by others..... So we also blog to get that appreciation...

Nutty, you seem to have hit the nail on the head when you say "We blog because we like to be famous". Pooh for being anonymous! Hurrah for Andy Warhol who says that, in future, we will all be famous for five minutes!!

Me, I blog because I love my town and want to show it off to the world. That's it.

We blog to express are opinions. For quite long we are fed with facts by newspapers and we were keeping our opinions to ourselves as there was no platform to express it.

Blogging gives that platform too all individuals. We definitely like to become famous but for that we have to work hard by writing more compelling and intersting posts. Only then fame will follow.

While its true that at some level all blogs are basically atempts to become famous/gain attention, it might be wrong to say that it is the only reason. Some people use their blogs to unwind and don't actually care if others read them or not.. (I'm not one of them though)

I write a blog because, I like to read and I think about what I read.  I write another blog where, I archive the rhymes/lullabys I learn for my little one - from my mom, neighbours, the internet, the movies and so on.

This thread was at the top of the recently updated list but, each post says "6 months ago" - is that a bug?

I blog because I love writing. And expressing my opinions about things. And also getting other people's point of view on what I feel. My blog is a sounding board for me. And also a king of diary, because I like to look back later on & see how I've changed & evolved, my personality, likes, dislikes etc, keep on changing.
