Latest on the review list:Blog Disectomy-The Khaled Mohammed of the blogosphere
Heya,
So after going through a lot of blogs recently, and getting to know what constitutes a good blog I've decided to set up a review topic of my own, Khaled Mohamed style. If you don't know how he does it, you'll soon find out.
So any reqs???
You can start with mine!
Anurag, here is mine - http://mohanbn.com/
@ Himanshu, Your blog: RAGE SAANSON KI !!!
If Che Guevara ever had a blog, it would look like this.
Aah! The background is as dark as a virgin bride's night, white no longer is a symbol of purity, it is the colour of anger and rage that shines upon this dark night (not to be confused with the Cristopher Nolan movie!). The dark night, never seems to end for the bride, its incessant nature simply builds the pain, the pain registers an exponential growth, the growth beats the da Vinci code's sales.
If you are a follower, and your goddess is Bhaarat Maata, your heart burns with passion for the nation, and anger is its fuel, if tears roll out of your beautiful beaded eyes when the country bleeds, and gut wrenching pain is felt, when it falters, if change is what you've been longing for all along, then my friend, RAGE IS THE PAGE!
A simple, yet perfect background for a blog like this. The black despite saying nothing, says so much, the white text sits upon it like a halo for a negative deed. The content is written with anger, sad, but true. A blog of this kind should carry a warning at the top, probably below the image which so beautifully epitomises the nation. A warning stating the consequences it could have on younger unmoulded minds. The ISI could probably accuse you Himanshu, of running a pro-India campaign which brain washes young Indians to turn up armed, against their enemies and teach them a lesson in their own game.
But alas, every silver lining has its cloud. Despite being full of anger and to the point, the blog reeks of rash, impulsive compositions. White is pearly all right, but smaller incomprehensible pearls are of no value. They may even cost lives ala the Indian divers in 20,000 leagues under the sea by Jules Verne. Try going for blends to increase the readability quotient, and try and get hold of the monotonic nature of the text, make it more catchy to the eye. It is also important to know when it is the right time to truncate a paragraph, and when it is a tad to soon.
Overall a good blog, with a nice theme, but like everything else in the world, has its own shortcomings like I pointed out. Keep up the good work, and the world may see something beautiful foster out of it.
RATING: 3.5 INDIES.
JESUS CHRIST!
Dude! U hv left me no words! What do i say other than a mere 'Thank-you' for such a flattering review! I would summarize in three points:-
1. Dont know much of HTML so had to choose a basic theme provided by blogger. And this was the best which i thought fits the bill for my rants.
2. Truly said, The day has to come sooner of later when ISI accuses me! But I am surprised when many Indians accuse me of writing on the edge~ and believe me there are many who do!! :p
3. This RAGE! and anger is coupled with some solid ground work my man! Check out www.sanskaari.org . So these pearls (thanks again) just work as a tool for self-motivation! Your suggestions are on the spot. Even i felt the need to blend it better. So, hang on! I will be soon coming up with some variety!
A treat of samosas and bhalle-papri awaits you when we meet!
cheers!
@ Mohan
Mohan pyaare, blogte raho.
O. Henry once said, "Similar to how, I seem to have an opinion on almost everything, a blogger shall arrive from the southern part of India, circa 100 years from my death, to continue what I've been doing"
Google is unable to show anything to back up what he said, but it is unable to the same for Michel de Nostradame as well. People don't take a second believing his prophecies. This is one that has actually come true, Mohan, you are carrying the O. Henry legacy forward.
And you play the 'I-am-so-humble' card pretty well. Not hinting that you are not, but Sir Isaac Vivian Alexander Richards never asked Saddagopan Ramesh how his pull shot was. This was the thought that came to my mind when I saw your blog address posted on my topic, neatly curled up between two sloven forward slashes.
BTW This is what Sadagoppan Ramesh has to say about your pull shot, Sir Richards. The immensely neat organisation of your blog would put Monica Emily Geller-Bing from the NBC show Friends(beautifully characterised by Courtney Cox-Arquette) look like a slob. And judging by the sheer magnitude of the no. of comments of some of your entries(like the no. on the LIC Health Plus ULIP review) has led me to believe that the number of visitors on your blog on a good day would quite easily surpass the population of Singapore. This many visitors to your blog, would suggest that you are doing at least something which is quite right.
The content of the posts are phrased in the simplest, and to the point manner. The opinions are that of a noble human being. What sets this blog apart is the crisp minimalistic nature of it. The diversity of your blog posts make me wonder what your profession is. Ah! An employee at Yahoo! No wonder Google is taking apart Yahoo! The employees of Google are encouraged to use 20% of their work time ideating and innovating. The employees of Yahoo! on the other hand, seem to be working 20% of the time, and blogging in the remaining time.
And as they say for Opera, colour could've been done without probably until the turn of the millennium. It has since been a decade, and your blog is slightly reminiscent of those Opera houses. Undoubtedly both these Opera houses have the same no. of corporate boxes, and the beauty of the music would be at par with each other, the audience these days, seems to like the jazzier version of it.
So try and Jazz up your blog a little. The most jazziest thing that I could find on it was the gorgeous up arrow, leading me to the pinnacle of the page. That is the only problem that I could see in this blog, Sir.

Hey Anurag, I kind of started to like your style of review. Thank for an indepth view from your perspective. All said and done, but there are few assumptions made in your review similar to Adolf Hitler! Well, I really couldn't get to understand how you came up with approximations of 20% of working time and the rest being spent on blog . I feel you have taken it a bit too extreme and got carried away... That is okay, I am taking it in good spirit. To let you know...
We work hard and play hard too! It is all about time management my dear friend, kindly give up such assumptions! I will certainly look forward to work on some of the points you have called out. Thanks for your time and I really appreciate your feedback.
Don't worry, it was just a joke, of the exaggeration genre!!! No multi billion dollar firm is set up without its employees working overtime.
Queue me up:
Mumbai, meri Jaan
Vijay, its pretty Much like Frank Darabont's filmography. He came out with Shawshank Redemption, a cult hit, and along with Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction it has become the reason for Forrest Gump to become one of the most hated movies ever to have won the Oscar for best picture. People recognised a genius in him, a film making ability that no one had ever seen in him. Although, he based it on a Stephen King novel, it is one of those few movies for which you can say it was better than the source of its screenplay.
Then everyone had to wait for another movie like the Shawshank Redemption, and finally came the Green Mile, before he eventually faded into obscurity. Somehow, reading the blog has been a journey similar to what Darabont's fans had experienced. It all started off with the beautifully set theme capturing the spirit of your blog. And it probably an instant hit on the first glance. What follows is not that pleasant.
Being forced to click on a hyperlink, and having to go to an external link is not my idea of blogging. I'd prefer my content to be one single page, rather than having to travel to a whole new site to finish reading my article. The content of the posts on this blog are undoubtedly good, but the abrupt end to it, followed by the link is a real bummer.
However, it does capture the spirit and vibrant nature of Mumbai. The theme does justice to the city, and the content. I'd prefer the font size to be a little bigger and bolder though. And since the posts are quite short in size, try and increase the number of posts on the homepage of your blog. And basically, since this is a review site, a categorical menu of what you are reviewing, neatly and clearly labelled below the header of the blog would of lot of use to the reader of your blog.

Hi Anurag,
http://www.nehasilam.com/
At least at some places, people write about me (errrr, my blog is there 'cos of me right?) ;)
looking forward to your Khaled Mohammad Review :)
Blog kiya, to darna kya.
Sweet, is a word that would be mentioned a lot in the review of a girl's blog. I am slightly unsure that I would be able to use that word or not. I am not even sure that its a girl's blog or not. The first time I went there, I had to double check to see whether I had landed up on a "girl's blog" to read about whether "Ajmal Kasab should be hanged or not". No white fairies, no mauve backgrounds, no falling stars, nothing. Maybe a flower somewhere, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
Okay, making a return trip to your blog leads me to a post titled 'Romantic, how boring'. It felt as if my initial thoughts about you were turning into confirmation. And what does the latest blog entry say? That you want people in their noses, and thoughts of murder arising! I am a bit confused, and scratching my head. The girls I know love cricketers(with Daniel Vettori and Michael Clarke being their fab favs!), not cricket.
Then on careful analysis, a girl did start to uncover, albeit similar to Belatrix Lestrange as Guria pointed out. Thinking to myself, she loves chocolates after all, and there is this motherly side to her(evident from one of the incidents in the punch waala post). She has tears in her as well. There is this teeny-tiny girl, inside of you locked up somewhere. The verdict is still not out, whether she wants to stay there, or actually come out.
Its really good, that you blog your heart out. You speak your mind, and you are actually quite good at that. I'd be really interested to know, what your profession is. Again, don't want to propagate stereotypes but females from Mumbai aren't this informed about things going around them. Rather, they are ignorant about them.
If I somehow manage to come out of the initial shock that it is a girl's blog, then I'd be able to get a hang of the things. The theme, well if it isn't what a girl would choose for her blog, it at least manages to be a very good choice in colours and stlye(again, something which proves that you are a girl, men have no style quotient at all!). I only wish that you would blog more regularly(like once a day), so that I can make it a daily routine to read your blog post, and after that eagerly wait for the next one.
Well, since a review cannot be an all praise affair, a reviewer has to rattle his brains. There are very minor issues with the font, try using a new one if you like. Apart from that, try reorganising the widgets a little bit, in order of what a new arrival on your blog may want to look for first. And the biggest complaint with you is that a blogger of your caliber should blog more often.
Overall, haven't seen a better personal blog than this, ever. It should go into the hall of fame of personal blogs, and probably also be the most exemplified blog address in Personal Blogs for Dummies.
RATING: 4.5 INDIES (for simply being one of the best blogs of your category that I've come across)
