There seems to be a lot of confusion regarding ‘IndiRank’. Let’s for a moment leave aside the question of how it’s calculated. When I first saw one of these on a blog proclaiming the owner had a rank of 80, I thought there were 79 bloggers ahead of him.I didn't know that actually the higher 'rank' denoted better performance.

Rank: When you say that something ranks in a particular position on a scale, you mean that it has that position on the scale.e.g: the magazine ranked a lowly 52nd among British publications.(source:collins cobuild Dictionary)

I think it would be great if indiblog comes up with another name like IndiScore/ IndiGrade/IndiRrate so that it conveys accurately the relevance of the 'ranking'  to a non indiblog audience as well.

Are you happy with the current nomenclature?

Any suggestions for a new name?

I know its not a life or death issue but feedback welcome ! Please share your thoughts on this.:)

Actually Pan, I understand your point. But the purpose of the score from 1 to 100 is to put the better quality bloggers ahead in the race. Hence the name IndiRank. With the score we are actually giving the bloggers a place in the indian blogosphere. Of course the rank is not ppermanent and it changes every month depending on the consistance of the blogger's performance.

And Alexa I believe works the way you have stated. Thats why your page might have a rank of 3245645 during its reearly days. That thjat kind of implpementation for bloggers cannot be justified. Bloggers keepp getting traffic to their blog even by an age old ppost of theirs. But these factors shoulde not dictate the rank of the blogger. There are much more elements to take care of when ranking a blogger like how good phis writting is and how many people digg it.

So does this answer your question, or am I further confusing you? Wink
