How my voice was stifled when I talked of secularism

Yesterday I attended a blogger symposium by Scratchmysoul.com and when I started to read from my post Indian Muslim is confused, worried and angry, which speaks against the ghettoization of Muslims and has the Batla House incident in the backdrop, one of the organisers wanted me to not raise this issue.

I told him that I am from the majority community but I am here to speak in favour of muslims; doesn’t that speak about my secular nature. And only at the insistence of Javed Akhtar, who was the cheif guest, I was allowed to speak.

The details of the incident have been covered in my blog post http://chronicleofmylife.wordpress.com/2009/12/13/how-my-voice-was-stifled-when-i-talked-of-secularism/.

I am just wondering how much afraid people are to raise such issues. But I am happy that the blogosphere has never put any restrictions on my voice.

Thanks a lot Nisha for those comforting words. I always knew that the blogosphere would support me in this.
