Do you blog for yourself or for your readers in your personal blog?

My blog is very new and I cannot help but notice that certain kind of posts attract more comments than others.

So far I have resisted the urge to deliberatly blog on the supposedly well liked topics. I am still blogging for my self and post whatever comes to my mind, as and when it does.

But I am curious about what others do.

Do you take note and gradually, knowingly or unknowingly, shift towards and change the content as time passes? Or do you blog to vent and hence blog for yourself?

Bascially, its a combination of both.

Now, if you aim to get more readership, you might have to write what your readers like. Else, you risk a chance loosing that readership

My approach is - one blog for my passionaet poems, another for social musings aimed at readership Smile

I have a blog for my poems. In this blog I continue to focus on topics that I am passionate about, irrespective of readership. In my view, poems are written out of passion, not for the sake of readership.

But it is true that I sometimes long for more readership and comments. So I recently started another blog, where I write on crafts, society, lifestyle etc... I write this blog aimed at increasing readership.

I can understand Hemal and Ashutosh's view on this. Also if post topics are too random, people who came in cause they liked a particular topic may feel let down and bored with the subsequent posts.

I agree with Psych Babbler though. I find it difficult to force myself to write something that is not on my mind at the time. Kinda makes blogging look like a job or a chore then!!!

@Sri Saranya

You have found the perfect solution my friend! But it requires more dedication and time it seems! Smile

Hey Ashley thts a very interesting question.. Well, I blive with time I hv bcm a bit conscious about the readership nd try 2 write what i feel they'll like 2 read.. however, in doing so I make sure that I am not sacrificing my viewpoints..

Nice question Ashley, even i am curious!

I totally agree with Vipul!      I blog to vent out my feelings, my opinions and beliefs on issues i love. I am not a very old blogger, but i am content with whatever i blog about. I would suggest not to run after comments and readership, rather blog for yourself. You will soon get like minded people, who will love reading ur posts! May take long time though!

BTW, if u want to be popular & wish to earn using the blogosphere then discard my suggestions and write for your readers! They r the ones who will bring u success! Wink

Cheers
