BIG ROCK plans to have a mega blogging event in association with IndiBlogger, and they would like to know what you want, and what you don’t.

@Anunoy : What are the terms and conditions for registering a domain ? Once we register , how many years are we supposed to pay the domain charges ? Can we discontinue after 2to 3 years ? What happens to our domain-name ?
You should pay for the domain every year (domain renewal). Usually, all domain registrars (bigrock, hostgator, godaddy...) give discount for the first year. The cost of the domain depends on the extension that you want (.com, .in etc)

You cn discontinue at any time.
Our domain name goes for sale after disconnection
If you don't renew, your domain name will be removed from your account and your website will not be accessible at that domain name and two grace periods follow.
Grace Period 1 : You can renew at normal rate.
Grace Period 2 : You need to renew at premium.
After the two grace periods, anyone can re register that domain at normal charges. Or if the registrar thinks that the domain name is valuable, it will be sold at a premium.

The discount is only for the first year for the first domain that you register. 
Thanks a lot @Ranjith and @Vijay for your elaborate replies. If you don't mind may I ask you , whether you both have registered domains , which are helpful ? What do you suggest for me ? I am not a professional blogger .
Yep have a registered domain and yep it helps a lot besides it costs around 700 per year for reneval
Yes. I always suggest people to go for a domain name if they have been blogging consistently for a few months.

what caught my attention is that the slideshow (the one where you get to see AFTER finishing the survey) which says that 25% of bloggers are females and rest are males. I couldn't help but ask how is it calculated? If an individual runs more than 1 blog, it should still be counted as 1 blogger. I am curious to see the numbers after one removes those stock tips and company blogs- and inactive blogs. It also shows that number of bloggers in kolkata is 3%. I thought it was more than that, considering that crowd didn't like when indimeets weren't happening over there...
On the contrary I find slightly higher number of female bloggers (active, not just registered)... may be I'm wrong...
3% is not an insignificant value considering it is just one of those many cities... had it been the percentage of bloggers from W.B. I would have been very worried.
That's a valid point you have raised about inactive blogs. I guess, the slideshow is based on the stats aggregated in an earlier survey with Businessworld and IB, so the statistic pool might be consisting of 'all those bloggers who had taken the survey'.
