How does the "Top Indian Blogs" actually work???

Yeah I saw this:

http://www.topindianblogs.com/

I couldn't help but wonder what's the methodology being used to prepare this list? Alexa has no value since it requires a browser to have an alexa toolbar, and chances are high that majority of the people don't use alexa. Ones who do are those SEO fellows, followed by marketing guys and something that I heard can be easily manipulated using Alexa rank boosting bots.

I mean, one of the top 3 sites under tech is actually a commercial website offering services like SEO and web hosting and digital marketing. what's up with that????

Valid question. Don't think it is purely based on Indiranks.

http://www.topindianblogs.com/  -- Directory of the top Indian blogs, maintained by indiblogger.in. This directory is generated based on IndiRank. If you score better in your indirank, you will rank in those specific top lists which are categorized based on your input about your blog tags during registration.

http://indianbloggers.org/  -- Directory of Top Blogs in India and Most Widely Read Indian Bloggers. The Indian Bloggers Directory is an ongoing effort by Amit Agarwal to showcase the best Indian blogs and bloggers from India. The project is maintained by Amit Agarwal of India Blog School. http://www.labnol.org/about/ . If your blog doesnt appear on this one, you can submit your blog application online through the website http://indianbloggers.org/. If selected, your blog will appear in those top lists based on the category you specify during blog submission. This is more of a pesonal effort by Amit Agarwal.

Hope this clarifies.

As far as our blogs content is unique and interesting, we dont need to worry about this ranking and all. I can see many blogs which are not listed on those lists, but still an entertaining and nice blog.

Where did I say its a matter of being worried? Since when asking a genuine question implies that one is worried? You can see so many blogs that are nice blogs, even better than the ones listed. Isn't that all the reason one would ask that the ranking methodology needs to improve? That's not a lot to ask, yes?
