I know, there are many other aspiring writers who want, in fact are dying to get published but are not sure how to go about it.

According to me, the best way to realize the big dreams is to trying for it a systematic manner, taking smaller steps.

Let’s cut the long story short.

I’ve an excellent proposal for aspiring short story writers, to start with, who think they can make an impact with their writing or have the ability to make people stand and appreciate their creative works.

This is a kind of project for which I would require 10—15 writers who can contribute 1—2 stories each and are ready to invest Rs. 3,000—4,000 in the project.

Once we would have 20-odd excellent stories we would go for self-publishing with Partridge (a joint venture of Penguin and Author Solutions) or Power Publishers or some other Self Publishing company.

Benefits:

Usually a published author gets 5—7 percent royalty on each book while self-publishing offers you around 70—80 percent of royalty.

You will become a published author, a self-satisfying feeling.

With 10—15 authors working together, we’ll not require any editorial or copyediting services as we can edit each others’ work. Also, combined, we can promote the book at a grand scale through social media and blogs (we all know how to do it…right?

As Partridge is joint venture of Penguin, the leading publishing houses; there are chances it publishes our book or considers us for future projects.

Now the business thing, even if our book fails to garner readers, the feeling of getting published with our paperback resting in our bookshelf is worth the amount (Rs. 3000—4000) we will be spending.

That’s all from my side. Let me know what you think. Any suggestions or advice will be appreciated.

I am waiting to hear from you. Also I need a maximum of 15 writers for the first project.
