Blogspot and Wordpress
I work off Wordpress but most bloggers I know here, are with Blogspot ? I read your work and am rearing to comment, but it takes a while - very tough. Is Wordpress not okay, or not as easily accepted as Blogspot ? I hope am making this clear ? Most of my comments seem to end up in space, cuz I dont have the patience to wait this thru...
h e l p :((
Ranjith - very often the ' verifiction process'.. ? Takes a while, then a re check. Is that " wordpress' related ?
Talking about the captcha?
Don't wordpress blogs have captchas? - I've never seen them...
Wordpress doesnt have them.
Only blogspot needs to know whether you are ' really human' :)
Thats ok. But often comment disappears...and I have to try again. the last time I forgot what I was commentn on in the first place.
one can easily keep those mind-numbing verification processes off in blogspot and simply keep the 'comment moderation' ON.... it's simple, easy and most reliable thing to do
comment disappears
How?
The problem with Blogger blogs is that captcha is turned on by default. Many bloggers don't play with the settings and so, you find the captchas everywhere.
no. Even wordpress sites may have captcha feature in comments. All that it needs is a small plugin. But most site owners dont use it generally.
Ow. :(
I must seem very unfriendly. Some have given the kindest comments on my blog - and I must seem like a blog voting monster, not really reading anything. Anyway. Shall keep trying. Cant imagine writing a new blogspot blog. Please dear friends, detonate captachas - I AM HUMAN
Comments don't disappear. To avoid captchas, we turn on moderation. So they will come up after moderation. If we turn off both, lot of spam will enter.
I understand about moderation and the note "awaiting moderation :... wordpress has that too. YEs okay about spam blocks. Sigh. Alright I get this. One of the hazardsof blogging :)
Wordspress is slightly more powerful than blogger and I main some self hosted wordpress blogs - in which I had a good experience until recently. I can share my experience if you wish.
WOuld like that Abhra... see, I keep getting reminders that am not using wordpress to the best, in getting more traffic... so, unsure, But yes, happy with Wordpress...
I use Tumblr
The best and the simplest blogging platform; period.
Although it is not that widely used in Indian subcontinent :/
DO not know anythnig about Tumblr - the best and simplest ? Yes maybe not in the Ind. continent, else we'd have each others' sites off it, I guess... but do say more?
Thing is - there are posts on Friends' G. blogs I'd love to share on my wordpress sites, but cannot. :((
When we are hosting a wordpress blog , it offers us very limited flexibility (though greater than that of blogger) compared to what it offers to you when you use a self hosted wordpress blog (your own domain, your hosting and code from wordpress.org) for example you can modify CSS, you can modify the template - even write your own php over the wordpress framework.
The recent problem that I've faced is that of performance of self hosted wordpress - because it creates a load on the database because a good traffic hits the database again and again and unless you have enabled good amound of caching, you'd be doomed. I have the best hosting service provider in India (Hostgator) and even they complain about the load. However, this might sound a little to techy.
In general, wordpress.com blogs are better than blogger but people tend to use blogger because it's easier to get accustomed to it. Tumblr is good and easy to use (the android app is also nice) but I have not seen any means to export or import blog like blogger or wordpress. Export works best with wordpress.
You can import your blog from other portals to Tumblr very easily :)
Bhavya, but can we do the other way round? I mean I have seen no export option from Tumblr.
There is an option to export from Tumblr to Wordpress. About blogspot, I'm not sure. But why would anyone migrate from Tumblr :D
Yes I guess the Premiums are the best ; did think Blogspot users are more than the WP and have more access to assoc networks.. me Ive gotten used to WP, I do have one blogspot account - finding it hard to get used to...
Hi Rayla, Wordpress is the best platform for blogger, it has many plugins that can supercharge blog highly. So wordpress is one of the best platforms for bloggers. Blogspot is garbage
hey Thanks ! :) I agree abt wordpress being good Blogpost am unsure totally
sigh yes but thanks saying...
It's not too bad to comment on Blogger from Wordpress. It's annoying at times, but not slow or anything.
Turmblr is great, but the comments are a pain. I started out with Tumblr and tried to install Disqus, but it was awful. So I moved to Wordpress.
I use have two Tumblr blogs and both are powered by Disqus; runs very smooth for me :)
Now when Tumblr has been taken over by Yahoo inc, they have impowered the comments section by using Disqus in almost all the new themes.
way togo I guess... :)
Yes Surya I get you, thanks :)))
I too had a Blogger blog. Then I started another one on Wordpress. After working on both for a while, I moved everything over to Wordpress. Once you get the hang of all the settings, WP is definitely stronger than Blogger, IMO.
Blogger is a great starter, because you really don't have to do anything at all. But I think the WP themes (WP.COM, not talking about self-hosted .org blogs) are far superior.
AND the comment thing really bugs me too. I find a lot of Indian bloggers are on Blogger, dunno why WP.com did not catch on there.
I personally Use wordpress for my blog, I been spent so much time on blogger.com but not satisfied .
As far I have heard that WordPress is better than blogger it has very good SEO optimization tools and also very good themes
