Copyright issues with blog posts

I am new to blogging, having started only six weeks ago. I am even newer to IndiBlogger. Hence, please pardon me if this topic had been discussed earlier. If it has been, I would be grateful if someone can direct me to the string.

How do we protect our rights to the contents posted on our bloggs? Is there any way to prevent it from being copied for pasting somewhere else? Is there some agency who deal with such matters? What does the law say?

I would be grateful for any inputs in these or related matters.

Hello Jayanthan,

Do you know? Everything we create is ours, we have have its right. Everything we put on our site/blog comes under our copyright if we mention COPYRIGHT word or symbol (C) on our blog.

But unfortunately, practically there is nothing that can stop someone from copying our content. No script or program can stop techy users but we can warn them with copyright notice and banners. Actually a good blogger will never copies from other blogs.

btw there are sites which will help us to protect. I am just giving you hint, check out DMCA, Copyscape, Creative commons  and my free copyright sites (google it). They are helpful. I am also having banners on my blog.

Don't worry google is watching. They will penalize everybody who is using copy content. They know who is actually created the content. The one who published first is the real author.

Don't worry jayanathan, just focus on your blog. don't forget about SEO (I mentioned becoz you're new!)

Good Luck

Thank you, Himanshu, for your detailed comments. I shall read through the sites you have suggested. I am sure I will get help from there. Let's hope for the best. But as you said, well, one cannot prevent unscrupulous cheats. And you sound very positive. I shall try to be carefree too. Thanks again.
