Need ideas for making a short marketing video on a software app

I need ideas(this is my first time on making this kind of video). I have certain things in my mind - like making a storyboard, or attaching the software usage with my day to day life or relating it to women specific areas( like how will it help us :)). I would love to know more such ideas .. from fellow experienced bloggers

Also, some free video editing tools?
