Dravid sets high standards in retirement too
Very few cricketers would go the way that Dravid went about announcing his retirement. Majority would like to announce the retirement at the beginning of the series or maybe in the last match that one plays. But remember if a player occupies or plays for a team, than he is depriving place for another deserving player. The Wall was inducted into Indian cricket when another great G.R.Vishwanath was the selector. He lived upto to his reputation in his career span
Tests 164 Runs 13288 Ave 52.31 century 36 50s 63
ODI 344 Runs 10889 Ave 39.16 century 12 50s 83
Dravid has held 210 catches in test and 196 in ODI.
Let us salute the Wall, and wish him luck for his future career. Cricket will loose a gentlemen, however we might get him to see in IPL, who knows his new avataar may surpise us all.
There was and There is ONLY ONE RAHUL DRAVID !
NO one can replace him
+ Vidya .........
Well said Vidya, difficult in current times.
I agree with you
Nice snap, Umeshji Maybe you could've put one of him defending in the great Wall style too.
All the best to him all his future endeavor . Undoubtedly he is the best Indian test batsman . A true team player and a wonderful gentleman . I'm going to sure miss him .
He is a Josephite another common bonding for me specially
Ha Ha , Umeshji
You know I never used to watch cricket much but still Dravid and Sachin are 2 people I know a lot about.
He is an awesome player. Its real sad that he won't play Test Matches anymore
Majority of non cricket fans know Sachin and Dravid for sure across the globe
Yep they do. They make our Nation Proud.
Just wrote a heart felt tribute to him on my blog.
Sad day for all cricket fans, We Will Miss You Rahul.
That is gr8 gesture DS, that you have penned a blog on him.
Read it ......
Dravid played cricket with a straight bat most of the time. He rode the crisis ridden along with Greg Chappel with aplomb. Declared the innings when Sachin was nearly double hundred in the interest of result. Did not let down Ganguly during his exit. Came back with gutso after being hit by a bouncer. KUDOS to the WALL, no body can exactly replace you in our hearts. You ensured the game remains in the realms of Gentlemen.
+1
Dravid is one of the very few gentleman type of cricketers alive .
I miss him :)
It was a good way and time to retire. But I wish he could have played one last test match in front of his home fans.
+1 Vinay , wish he could play one last test match .....
