A case has been registered against the ex boyfriend of Malini Murmu ( IIM student ) for abetting suicide.  His status mentioned allegedly that he has dumped his ex girl friend and happy to be independent.  This triggered of an impulsive suicide.  I used to advice some youngsters and friends not to use profanity in the social networking forum, particularly budding guys for whom their careers would be affected, family circle may be embarassed.  Now this comes as a shocker.  Whether our education system has moderators or counsellors who could prevent such tragedies is the key issue. Debate guys

very well said Sorcerer.

apt quote from Tinto.

relating the suicide with FB is just hogwash

It's a sad dilemma. teen's mind being very frivolus, esp. a girl's, at on impulse. so any heart breaking news ought to be delivered with caution. Moral responsibility rests on the person inflicting such act. not harping away on public forums to their heart's desire. parent's too should be on high alert for any mood changes of their ward. this period is crucial and social awareness is a necesary thing to be brought to light.

I believe the institutions concerned should have counsellors in the first place.  This is bound to happen in future too, unless parents, guides and well wishers keep a tab on such occurance.

And what about ill-treating of husbands or boy friends?

Umeshji,  if I were the expert, we'd have more people commiting suicides and trying to bash me up or both...

(..wait, the second part is already true....Cool)

But I personally think that this is a case where her emotions simply got the better of her. I'm sure all of us go thru those states when our feelings get the better of us... when we're saner, we're able to think better n realize our follies.. unfortunately for her (God bless her soul!),  she acted a little too rapidly..

I dont think there's anything wrong with FB or with our parents' upbringings.. think all our parents did a great job of bringing us up and FB did a gr8 job of bringin us togetherSmile

I have a buddy who gav me brilliant piece of advice, " when faced with adversity, respond but dont react - reaction is whatever u do when adversity strikes, response is the same thing after applying thought"

n i gt nothin against love.. think its a fabulous feeling n f**klove is my blog...;)

What say?

Smile

Suicide for revenge sake is absolute NO.  i agree with you that parents are guilty if they don t accept a major or minors relationship status.

Only i can say is Crazy Girl !

stupid Boy dumped you! no big deal there are people who love you more than that boy your Parents. Atleast you should have thinked about them before taking a wrong decision!

R.I.P

The girl does this thinking she is saving their parents the trouble, their izzat, etc. like t.v. etc. bloat about in the saas bahu serials.

suicide is crime, but the doer is in another realm. many many cases are hushed up, and parents bear the agony.

olden days people were simple and any thing one wanted not done , declared it as a sin, and people, in extreme adversities, abstained, thinking it would be a grave sin.

now a days, modernization has all this taken as superstition etc.

So we send Ekta Kapoor and Balaji Telefilms with their entire TV series crew into exile? If fingerpointing at them will make the govt. do so then I know a lot and LOT of people in favour of this and end the insanity.

Facebook is a tool. Like any tool, it can make or break anyone. Utilisation of a tool depends on the person who wields it. I hope her soul goes to a better place, I think we should leave it at that and leave the fingerpointing be done by TRP experts. News channels and journalists have a bad habit on banking on people's death by over-exaggerating. Sad, people earning money by over-exaggerating facts on chain of events where people spilled their blood. I bet people won't be proud of being human if facts are presented this way, huh?

S, My point is just at the structure being woven around us. nothing more, nothing less,

death's happen, it's reality.

With open mind one should find concrete solutions and see where the problem lies. and take efforts humanely in those direction.

Counselling is the only way out of this dreaded situation Smile  When we get so much attached it is difficult to detach.  It is definitely hep to have a boy friend or a girl friend but one should know it is temporary phenomenon.  Rare instances of these pairs turning into life partners.  Can we have broad minded parents who is bold enough to ask how is your boyfriend and daughter says yes he is fine dad. Well such instances only reinforce our mindset to seek for solutions on pro active manner to prevent such suicides.  I hope all colleges have a seminar to find an appropriate solution to so called love failure situations.
