I stumbled on the stats feature of bloggers recently ( I know it is very stupid of me not to have checked it out earlierEmbarassed)  and have been having fun seeing different stats of my blog traffic. Most of the people who visited my blog are from USA. I am really grateful to Indiblogger for being in lead for bringing to my blog. What is the biggest source of traffic for your blog?

Google is the main source of traffic... What is astonishing for a cricket blog like mine is that I have some traffic from RUSSIA!!! Wonder if they even play the game there!!!

I cannot even think of creating interesting videos. So bye bye traffic from vimeo, you tube etc. ;)

Have learned so much from this thread I started with curiosity.

I get most of my traffic by networking with other bloggers! :)

Actually google image search sends me traffic than real google search. But of course most of them are one page bouce as the pictures in my blog are cartoons usually.

I guess since my blog is new, I am not getting any search traffic yet. let's see.

@genobz

How old ids your blog?100 from google is good.

Create some interesting yideos on youtube and insert your blog name in that video. If people like your video, they might visit your blog too

Its a draft concept but we started doing video previews. Since we started getting pre/unreleased media/engineering samples for reviewing, we taken the opportunity to give a basic of the thing.

Prime example: http://www.youtube.com/HARDWAREBBQ

You can see that I've put up the reviews of the harddrives that are used on the gaming notebook, alongwith the link of the review.

Amazing set of comments i have read here..

I am amazed to see that sites like stumble upon and twitter work.. coz for me, they don't.

I get about 10 visits from Indiblogger, about 20 from HP.com (hewlett packard), about 10 from game forums, 4-5 from flicker, 4-5 from Wordpress Support forums, about 90-100 from search engines (wordpress + google + etc etc ) (coz wordpress doesn't specifically tell which search engine), about 5 from facebook ( about 30-40 when i publish a post) + some other random referals

In all i am able to get about 150-160 ish every day..

No luck from digg, stumble upon, twitter :(

Does blog traffic start dipping or gaining on weekends? I am eager to check that out ;)

Traffic definitely goes down a bit on Sundays :-(

People on weekends, generally want to relax and do not spend time on the net. So traffic dips. But if you blog about leisure and fun, traffic may rise on Sundays.

Once I was lucky to get linked by a Russian site once which gave me 1600 visitors in a sigle day...

apart from that, I generally get traffic from facebook, zimbio, flickr and reddit...

twitter, digg & stmbleupon have never worked for me somehow...

1600 visitors on a single day! Damn!

How was the no. distributed among homepage and posts.

Harish...

basically it was for one post.. my travelogue on Valley of Flowers which was linked by the Russian site that also wrote a blog on the same spot... some of them also meandered into other posts but not too many... More importantly I think most of them din't understand english so they only saw the pictures... Laughing

to use google analytics, you need to have your own domain. Blogs hosted on platforms like wordpress cannot have the Googla Analytics code added to their blogs :(

A top domain isn't necessary to use Google Analytics. Google analytics works on free blogging platforms like Blogger as well as it did on mine. The reason that it doesn't work on Wordpress is that a blog hosted for free on wordpress.com may not have any javascript inserted.

Major source of traffic to my blog is Google. Top countries are USA, India, UK and Canada.

I get most traffic from google. followed by feeds, Facebook. Though I tried using stumbleupon, you don't get much results when you stumble yourself. But when a friend stumbled my post, it got some visitors. So I guess it depends on how big your network in stumble is, for your posts to be circulated again.

You need to use Google analytics to have a better insight. Most of the search queries from google and yahoo end up in one page bounce (they do not go to the next page even)So you never build a loyal base.

Google search works for you if your blog is like a tech blog where targeted audience is a floating population. But If you are a humor blog like mine or a fiction writing blog you should try to build loyal user base.

Hi Sorcerer. You remind me to visit your blog and read your funny posts. Haven't been there for quite some time now. Interesting data there.. so stumbleupon is a good source of traffic to blogs by what we read here.

Cake blog is idling for sometime, its only the review blog that's full time active. Those numbers are from Hardware BBQ.

I've yet to use youtube/vimeo/daily motion as another source of traffic for BBQ. That's going to take some work and lot of time but that's where I'll get maximum number of attention from people belonging to this niche and the general public who has certain interests in common. I guess one can call it "organic trafffic" >_>"

One thing I have noticed in the last one week or so is that in my Blogger stats, a lot of traffic shows from other blogsites on whose blogroll I am, 30 to 45 visits in one week from each blog... Not only a particular blog but many Blogs... I think it is not true... Anyone else noticing the same thing??
