What is the main source of your blog traffic?
I stumbled on the stats feature of bloggers recently ( I know it is very stupid of me not to have checked it out earlier) and have been having fun seeing different stats of my blog traffic. Most of the people who visited my blog are from USA. I am really grateful to Indiblogger for being in lead for bringing to my blog. What is the biggest source of traffic for your blog?
Reason: I cannot see my topic on forum
I get most of my blog traffic from google searches. The rest is from referrals like twitter, stumbleupon and indiblogger, of course.
have you optimized your blog for search engines or did it just happen like that?
I have not been a success on twitter for some reason :(. Need to check out what is stumble upon.
It is the same with me Arti. I am on twitter but I am not active there. Most of my friends are on facebook and I am on facebook as soon as I log in. I wish I could become active on twitter too like I am on facebook but my friends do not like twitter
@arti surprise!! you are not on FACEBOOK?
Any reason? It aint difficult to get one, but guess what, you can get a good traffic source considering your blog is a hit already
@arti lolz... well when you dont mind ppl getting addicted to your blog, i guess you can well do with that bit of addiction to Facebook :P
BTW Arti you will have a choice. I don't think withdrawal from facebook will give cold turkey or something like that ;)
I get most of my traffic from google too. Some traffic from facebook shares aswell.Recently joined twitter.
First install Stumble Upon toolbar. Then go to your blog posts and click the like button. Stumble Upon will show your blog to a few people who have interests similar to you. If they too like your page, the chances of your page being shown to other increase. If they click the other button (I don't remember the name) Stumble Upon thinks that not many may like your page.
Same with me 'The Fool'. Just checked out stumble upon and realized I am still naive about many sites. Amazing is the fact that through google I have got more clicks for my poem trapped in a cocoon http://chaptersfrommylife.blogspot.com/2010/03/trapped-in-cocoon.html which has not been one of my top posts than for any other post.
@ Mohit - Facebook has been good source of traffic for my blog too.
Thanks Ranjit for that information. May be I will end up with more traffic to my blog with this thread.
Mostly google and yahoo searches!! :)
I do not understand how come I have no traffic from yahoo search where as I get many from google search.
there only a select amount of users using Yahoo! search... so no wonder.. but there is an issue of Yahoo not knowing or not listing your blog posts on top.
How do you usually track your sites performance? Google Analytics?
For stumble you can add your site pages in your favorites, share it amongst friends and gradually increase viewership.
I am on blogger and there is stats given there.
yes arti..i have been noticing that too...i am getting traffic from someones blogroll i am in.. approx 30 to 40....i too have the feeling it amy not be true!!!
Oh. Is it so? I was thinking my readership has really gone up suddenly. Disappointed.
i am getting it from 2 blogrolls.....
Yes samething hsppend with me also .
38% of visits are from Google, 35% are from Referring Sites and 27% from Direct Traffic.
IndiBlogger is the biggest referrer with 73% visits.
After looking at the Search keywords, stats looks funny. Here, take a look..
1. places for couples in mumbai 2. 9773300000 3. vicks action 500 4. lovers spot in mumbai 5. lovers park in mumbai 6. private places for couples in mumbai 7. reliance gsm network review 8. maaza ad 9. starbucks coming to india 10. girl in airtel ad 11. baroda next 12. best mobile service provider in maharashtra 13. lovers place in mumbai 14. reliance gsm review 15. bajaj135
huh, am not getting the Table Formatting
@Hemal: lol! too many lovers coming to your site. Even I get many funny results when I look at my search keywords, for eg. 'how to score a girl?' Now that I don't understand, I provide no such guidance. :D and then 'cutting nails on Saturday.'
lol @shilpa how to score a girl?
... but do you really have a post on it? Cutting nails on Saturday! do you write on black magic?
LOL Hemal.. It is really funny how traffic gets generated to our blogs...
Hi Sorcerer. You remind me to visit your blog and read your funny posts. Haven't been there for quite some time now. Interesting data there.. so stumbleupon is a good source of traffic to blogs by what we read here.
Cake blog is idling for sometime, its only the review blog that's full time active. Those numbers are from Hardware BBQ.
I've yet to use youtube/vimeo/daily motion as another source of traffic for BBQ. That's going to take some work and lot of time but that's where I'll get maximum number of attention from people belonging to this niche and the general public who has certain interests in common. I guess one can call it "organic trafffic" >_>"
You need to use Google analytics to have a better insight. Most of the search queries from google and yahoo end up in one page bounce (they do not go to the next page even)So you never build a loyal base.
Google search works for you if your blog is like a tech blog where targeted audience is a floating population. But If you are a humor blog like mine or a fiction writing blog you should try to build loyal user base.
I get most traffic from google. followed by feeds, Facebook. Though I tried using stumbleupon, you don't get much results when you stumble yourself. But when a friend stumbled my post, it got some visitors. So I guess it depends on how big your network in stumble is, for your posts to be circulated again.
I am surprised too Umesh. I need to visit your blog to check out what it is all about
Major source of traffic to my blog is Google. Top countries are USA, India, UK and Canada.
