The point in having a contest winner on vote count

Recent winner stat which omitted the highest vote earner of prize catch. It was a welcome effort of indie team to announce additional whopping 10 prizes.

there was a single prize left for vote count. question remains " what was the point of keeping a single prize to a slot which victimizes people with earnest to ask votes and in the end fall prey to another bloody vicimization."

I think I have to put it this way. the 100 meter race is organized. the person who came first won by 30 meters lead. but the person who came second was declared winner because he was smarter and more handsome than the winner.
