Vote Begging Contest

I just dont understand, or maybe I am missing the point - but why do people literally beg for votes?   People literally send emails/messages/leave offliners and ask to vote for their post. It is independent of whether you like that post or not, or worse, vote even if you have not read one word of it !

I am all for publicizing your post/article and letting people know that you have written something. However literally begging to vote for them is absurd. On one occasion I joked with someone - what's in it for me ? Promptly the answer came that the favor would be returned.! After all every one was doing it ! I was aghast.

Finally, I said, ok I will vote for you - but don't need one in return.Thanks !

I guess I don't blame the person, it is more of a function of our society right now.Everyone is out there to win...at any cost...hook or by crook...winning is everything. And like I said...maybe it s not them...it s me who is missing the point.

I still want to win the good old fashioned way where people would genuinely love my post for it s quality, content and presentation !

While discussion this idea struck to me..

Lets have both jury and public votes..

now jury will have their pick..which is not on indivine..so they can pick any of the posts submitted...jury shall be given some 100points which they have to distribute among theit picks of blogs...u cld make a mandate of 3 posts..with a min points for any post..

among the public votes..

there shall be slabs..on numbers like

1-10 =>5points

10-30 =>10 points

30-60 =>20 points and so on..

this i believe should make it much better than the current format..

now the grand total shall decide the winner..

hows that???

Good thought Bhai!

@ unknown bhai, I wish to add one or two things to the base u hve laid , .

1)jury names stictly confidential,

2) posts given to jury should be given without participant's names, like examination papers.

@Pramod - is that too difficult to find out whose post is it by searching for few lines on net?

I had written this about 4-5 days back

"I am of the view that instead  of all the voting contests, a random jury of 15 - 20 bloggers to rate the posts and one person to collate all the indivual ratings should be comprised for each contest; a different set for a different contest... The jury would be anonymous and only a select few will know of the identities

If a blogger refuses to be a part of this judging team (say on two or three different counts), without a sufficiently convincing reason, then they may be let go from the forum....

The entrie would be hidden from everyone, including the judges, before the completion of submit by date. After that, open to view for everyone and the interested ones can comment on the blog but not be able to vote for the post... or be able to vote in the noram way but the votes would not count and in the end of it, it would the jury's vote which would matter...

I know there may be some kinks in this system... but with a few tinkerings.. it could work fyn and put an end to a lot of problems!!!"

Any thoughts on this?

The thread is but a reflection of our system and mindset.Yet we are the same set of people that so vehemently criticize the parliament fights and voting rights.

 I'll make a cake and you better like it ,else your cake sucks too.!

Equating democracy while voting for a contest is not equal to voting for a country's leadership.Please do not justify vote begging under the garb of democracy.Instead,please acknowledge that judging a literary piece is a tough thing - somebody's artistry could be someone's nightmare.

So let us all maintain a sober facade and smile and let world keep spinning.

So, will there be data normalization while choosing the winners this time for #sharelife by eliminating the outliers?

The vote mongers are back.

PS : without even reading the rules of the contest, people have started spamming facebook walls.

Now I see the BIC  is CIC - Beggar in chief is also the cloak in chief !

Wonder why people resort to such cheap thrills and for what?
