Improvements for IndiBlogger network
Having been in Indiblogger for a couple of months now, I have begun to have a network of bloggers that I like and bloggers that like me.
I feel it would be nice to have a quick way to see new posts on Indivine from bloggers that I like and be able to vote for them.
Is there a way to do this that I am missing?
Also, what is the advantage if any of being on an Indiblogger's network? Is it just the feel good factor? It would be nice to get RSS feeds from the networked bloggers into one place rather than having to separately use google reader or some other feed aggregator for this.
Any thoughts?
Suggestion -
In the public profiles, can you also display the other indiblogger friends of a person, that indirectly shows how much following a person has.
Suggestion -
Can you put like and dislike for every post made. And also the names of the people who liked and disliked. Something like in pagalguy.com
Suggestion -
You have this "report this topic?" for every topic, may be to curtail spam...but can you keep that at every post level to avoid spam posters in threads...have a counter on number of reports and then warn specific users depending on that..helps in policing
Suggestion-
Its quite evident that indirank is something which most of the indibloggers look up to, and specially when the D day comes... ppl get really curious..anxious over what would be their rank
since the algorithm of indirank is not shared..can u build some kind of calculator...using which people can calculate their rank..by giving different inputs..let the calculator not be an accurate one.. but atleast a dummy rank.. am sure everyone will try it..will be fun..and also it could lead into another topic for discussions.
Team comment on the feasibility!
how can we really make it effective?
Folks - Thanks for reviving this request..and Renie - Thanks for making this a sticky topic- I feel honored;)
What would be ideal is probably social activity (posts on Indivine, discussions in forums and such) relating to our network that could be displayed both on the Indiblogger profile page itself and can also be a widget that can then be embedded into our own blogs.
It should be possible to go from there to Indiblogger and back so that you can navigate seamlessly between blogs on your network as well as Indiblogger.
The widget I have in mind would be like the Wibiya toolbar or the googlefriend connect plugin toolbar. Love to hear more ideas and see this as in reality soon..
I like this. Its hard to go to each and every blogger on my network, click on their name, and then see if they have new posts in their blog. A feed (like in google friend connect) would be great. :)
Topic made sticky. Keep the ideas coming - might be difficult to aggregate posts for those who have hundreds of bloggers in their network, but hey - that's what makes it fun!
Glad you made this thread sticky
This is super Sowmya! I totally support the ideas. Let's see what Renie has to say!
Cheers!
I agree on this. Its indeed, one of the most needed stuff. Subscribing RSS on Google Reader essentially doesn't give this feel of an Indiblogger.
Lets see whats the Indi'team has to offer!
i think there should be a facebook like feature wherein after you add bloggers to your network you get to see a summary of their latest blog posts which on clicking it directs you to the blog. There can be a widget alongside it where you can directly vote for that post on indivine too.
Also, i guess each blog is categorised and indiblogger can 'suggest' blogs on the basis of the blogs one is following. So if i am following movie blogs then i can get suggestions of other movie blogs too.
Ms.Sowmya, Once you add a blogger to your network his/her name is added to your dash board and by clicking it you can see both the popular posts as well as latest posts listed there with links. Ofcourse, this is available for 1 blogger at a time and not all your favourite bloggers are seen.
There is a separate forum topic that mentions that there is a limit on the number of Indimails that can be sent any day -
New info that I learnt today - have never used it to solicit votes, but people who want could possibly do so..Max Limit of 15 to prevent Spamming! I
Oh yes - there is the Indimail feature that I do use, but forgot to mention. Thanks Addy, for adding that..
Thats what we have been trying to say all this time! This is exactly what we want!
BTW when some one is "in your network" you can sen them IndiMail, which you can't otherwise.
That is a great idea Sowmya! I would love to see that feature here :)
