Regarding the UI, i personally prefer bluish or white background to light green yellowish background..but it is upto you to decide

Iam very much impressed with your defence analysis. You can work on the mixture of colours that is used in the blog. Since im some wht exposed to painting, i feel the combination of colours can be altered to have a good view of your blog and its content.
