Social Media such as blogs, wikis and Social Networks such as Orkut are going to be a part of the school and college studies. If not implemented, atleast a sugggestion has been made to the government.

Is this initiative yet again an example of - public sector following private sector? Why is there a slack always on the side of the government in pioneering new trends?

@ALL - Nice thoughts. I wish we could share it with the government :)

Sriharsha has a good point about public sector  being centralized, and hence unable to think and implement new trends.

However, I would agree with Zeon here. Personally, I feel social networking and blogging could be distraction at the school level. I feel childhood should be kept simple and enjoyable. Social Networking need not be taught to kids in school. It is something they could pick up when they are in 11th and 12th grade given the pace of technology today. (Allthough, on the contrary, kids as young as  nine year olds  seem to getting 'facebook' savvy Surprised )  Wiki would definitely be fine.

I don't know... call me old fashioned, but including  social networking and blogging at school might kill a lot of study time. Probably its ok at higher secondary schol, but nothing befoer that. Wiki is fine.
