Is it me or is Indiblogger turning into a social networking site?

It really seems as if the number of forum threads about blogging is reducing and people are more interested in the random, off topic conversations. Is this a concerted shift on Indiblogger's part or are people using the forum to socialise? I think blogging changes every second and no one can claim to be an expert forever (except maybe mashable or problogger). Does everyone here think they are experts and there is nothing left to learn? Is it just me who wants the random topics out of the forum?

Thanks,

Prashant.

@Rahi Vidya: Fair enough - but how about this: Twitter. The perfect platform for doing exactly that. Short, bite-sized conversations bout topics that interest you in real time with others like you. Just a thought.

@Aneet: ah okay!

Man I started off with agreeing to the fact that indiblogger shudnt b like the hundreds of forums on the internet where people r discussing thousands of things nd worse become a way to spam users sometimes. But as I come to the end of the discussion, my thoughts hav changed a bit. U don't knw where wl ideas come from. So let conversations happen. But moderators wl hav a big role to play here. Please ensure that none is spamming the forum. Also don't let people publicise their blogs in a cheap manner.

@prashanth: I do accept there are some topics which are random conversations...

But I feel conversations are good for bloggers....and sometimestimes  some healthy conversations gives me new idea to post new topics in my blog..so its indirectly helping the purpose of blogging.. http://ballat.blogspot.com

@Renie: Bit of a relief to hear that. I thought maybe you guys were looking at expanding the focus. Time to get to work...

@Parv: Not really sure what thats supposed to mean. Are serious bloggers "nerds" then? And flowery, unfocused, non-directional blogs counted as "cool" then? Not trolling, just wanted to check...

Thanks,

Prashant.

Prashant - we hear you! I do agree that the topics have been a bit facebookish of late. Time to bring in a more blogger centric discussion.

@Shankar - Just browse through the topics and ask yourself how many are directly related to the blogging experience and how many are random conversaions.

I said experts because the conversations about blogging seems to have dried up so I remarked that maybe everyone knows everything there is to know about blogging.

Thanks,

Prashant.
