Looking for feedback on my new blog
Hi Everyone,
I would really love to know your views about my Blog. I know the user Interface is not that great. But apart from it, what do you think about the content? Is it good enough? What are the possible areas I need to Improve on?
FYI, my blog is about Blogging, SEO, and Making Money Online. Its just 3 months old so still a long way to go.
Your website is nice and your writing is also informative.. I would suggest that you remove any adds on top of the first post of the home page, since its the page people see first and no one likes to see an add instead of a nice heading for an inviting post. I am not an expert myself but I don't like it wen there's adds between the header and the first posts since it's what grabs attention. Rest is wonderful, the subcription box to the follow buttons and the content... Hope this helps :)
Would you take a look at my blog and tell me what you honestly think?
Thanks a lot for the feedback :)
Hello,
The content is good and I like reading your blog. But I do agree with the Hemangini for welcoming with the Ad is not a good practice. You can keep the ad next to your blog name.
Keep blogging.
Thanks a lot...Working on Redesigning my Blog entirely.
Don't use caps on with words between the sentences unless its an abbreviation or a proper noun. Grammar needs to improve. Use a browser app called 'Grammarly'. It should help to reduce grammatical and spelling errors.
Thanks for the feedback. Yep, using capital words in between sentences is a mistake I always end up making. Working on it. As for Grammarly, I am using the free version. But then, the free version corrects only the major mistakes.
How would you rate my Grammary on a scale of 1-100?
Well, its better than the default spell check. Ultimately, its an app so whether its free or premium its bound to hit a limitation at some point. Judging by the content, I assumed you weren't using it. The best way to improve is to read books and observe the way its written. Proper ones from known writers. The type of content that you're preparing is nothing really out of the ordinary. Unfortunately these kind of content works when a site has a very large following. The odd crowd typically overlooks such content in smaller websites. I am taking the example of "10 REASONS WHY FREELANCING IS BETTER THAN REGULAR JOBS". The main issue is that you quoted an American survey. I am not sure if a similar surveys are done in India, but its not very hard to make a rough guess to make a content that the locals can relate to.
For example:
One of the main reasons people work from home because buying an office space costs a lot, renting is also expensive plus it requires to deposit few months deposit- and getting a shared space isn't everybody's cup of tea. At the same time, present the cons of being a freelancer too. Every type of work has a set of pros and cons. Some would apply for outsiders, some for our fellow countrymen.
Personally, working from home requires a person who have a strict discipline as people around you would tend to ask you to do something unlike in an office environment. You need to brainstorm and make content that people here can relate to. Check out how company blogs write content. Its very specific. Its intended for target audience who buy/sell/rent commercial/residential place. That level of expertise needs to be reflected, but in a very simple way. There are inumerable blogs I've seen putting up such content like "Ten tips" "Ten reasons", but not a lot of people are talking about CMS that typically bloggers use, at least in Indiblogger anyways. Same goes for plugins, etc. Try and put new things. Don't be generic.
I really appreciate for the extremely detailed feedback. As for the "10 REASONS WHY FREELANCING IS BETTER THAN REGULAR JOBS" article, I did use Grammarly. Maybe it skipped some obvious mistakes. As for American Survey, yes, I totally agree that I should have written the article for everyone. Will keep that in mind.
For the Cons of freelancing, it is going to be one more article and as and when it's ready am going to put a link for the same at the end of this article. This is mainly to reduce the length of the article as from my personal observation, longer articles are resulting in higher bounce rates and as we know Google counts higher bounce rates as poor content. It is just a bot after all.
And yes I really loved your feedback. Am just 3 months old to the Blogging world. Still a long way to go and my critics can help me get better. Thanks a lot for being 1 :)
My bounce rate is less than 10% and I get more than 3.000-5,000 views per day (on the day I don't publish any reviews). My reviews usually exceed 2,000 words average pages per user turns is 11-12 per day. The problem is not lengthy content. The problem is content irrespective of the site that isn't able to keep its users engaged for a longer period and tempt them to turn more pages. Short and generic content also leads to higher bounce rates.
Do you really mean less than 10%? If that's the case, there's something wrong with your blog. Maybe you are using Iframes or Scroll Depth plugin or Reduce Bounce rate plugin. As such Google Analytics just knows when a visitor visits your website. It does not know when he leaves the website. However, these Plugins send signals at a regular interval based on the percentage of page scrolled or time. And this reducing your bounce rate.
Just to back my claim, here is a chart from quicksprout. According to it, your bounce rate falls in the "Something is broken" category.

And with this, I certainly disagree with you. If you are writing 2000 word long article and the user is actually reading it with interest, he may end up spending good 20-25 minutes on it. And I don't think anyone in today's world has enough time to read so much. And 11-12 pages per visitor per day is something even TechCrunch cannot achieve it
you are writing 2000 word long article and the user is actually reading it with interest, he may end up spending good 20-25 minutes on it.Eh? People spending more time on a site is actually a good thing. Don't just see length, see the actual content. When I started Hardware BBQ, it was about 89%. In a year, it has reduced to 74%. Adding news and later guides helped to reduce the bounce rate and increase average time on site and increase pageviews significantly. I've added Xenforo forum to build a community, but that's going to take a while. I have more ideas for that too. Later I added a database section which did its part to some extent. If you're sticking with one type of content, higher bounce rate is bound to happen. Anyone is doomed to failure, no matter how big the website is. The same advice is given to a lot of people, not just you. Something that the so-called SEO experts will never advise.
The point is, you'll always have to keep adding or else you'll be left behind.
When you check out websites like Anandtech or Android police, they don't just provide reviews and news, but guides too. In-depth and relevant content help users to stay on the website stay on the site longer. Same goes for GSM Arena. Some websites even have a separate section that lists phones, images, specification with comparison option and also amazon affiliation. Keeping users engaged under one roof helps to reduce bounce rate and increase average time on site. Indiblogger itself is a big example. They don't just act as a place where you submit content links, but also has contest section, forums section, chat on the site, etc.
Dude, I really don't know care about so called experts. I know SEO myself and I write about SEO. Under 10% Bounce rate is Impossible to achieve without Scroll Depth, Iframes or auto refresh. Anyways thanks for your help.
