Rebuilding blog readership - any ideas?

Hi!

I'm fairly new to Indiblogger but I've been blogging for 9 years now. I took a break for a while and obviously, I lost most of my readers. Looking at the comments on my older posts, a lot of the bloggers who were in my network are now quite inactive.

So any ideas from ppl how to go about building a new network of like-minded bloggers? I'm sure everyone agrees that it's no fun to blog without comments...

My blog is personal and I write mostly about women's issues, parenting, book reviews, and a lot of random stuff.

Any suggestions on content/design are also most welcome :-) http://www.simblybored.com

Thanks!

Write good content..Visit other blogs and comment and try to be active on social media...

I also have a blog (http://www.njkinnysblog.com/) and it is always a struggle to connect with people...:)

BTW I visited your blog, loved your post and have subscribed to your updates...All the best :)

follow some people, comment on their blogs. Some will come over to your blog to read, and hopefully, comment.

I make it a point to comment if I do read....

I have been blogging for 6 years and I took a break from 2012 to 2013 when my son was born. Lost a lot of readership during that time and quite a few of my blogging frnds have gone into hibernation but I still carry on. Beacoz there are always people who are looking to read good content. Pick a trending topic and you would find it easy to connect with the audience. But it takes some time to get things back into the groove.

One thing that always works is to collect emails. Your readers stay with you this way. I follow Neil Patel's advice and here is some of his articles regarding buislding readership:

If you are serious in blogging, I would advise to follow Quicksprout for first hand advice.

Sounds interesting Abhishek. Thanks for the advice. I'll head there and check it out.

I'm not a professional blogger but at the same time, I read somewhere, if we didn't want to engage with other people, we would maintain a diary not a blog!
