Curious case of a backlink

My Indirank stats say that I have x number of backlinks in this month.

That number x is not the number of new backlinks you got this month but the total number of backlinks you had since the beginning.

The backlinks shown in IndiRank is from moz. They don't track a majority of backlinks. A better tool to track backlinks would be Google Webmasters. https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/home?hl=en  (Search Appearance > Site Links )

Google for it.. There are many tools which will point you towards the same but its impossible to judge exact figure !!!

Yes.. But mind you, there are two kind of backlinks, one is called dofollow (some says juice passing ), another is called nofollow (which has no ranking value, incase of moz or PR)..

What do you do to increase the number of backlinks to your blog?

Personally I dont do much.. but common techniques would be

• commenting on other blogs (which has dofollow)
• guest blogging to get a dofollow back links.. 
• Participating in forums, which allows dofollow signatures.. Self Promotion 

I am no expert, just a newbie, these are my personal views, so u better wait for experts to comment !!
