Blogging with stats and facts - how often you do it?
How often do you write on topics where you need stats and facts from other sites to backup your writing? For me, very less but I do believe in having my facts right and when I do write on certain political issues, I do go about doing so with correct facts.
I was curious to know your views on this - is stats and facts a crucial part of blogging! I believe yes. Do we use it often? Perhaps not.
Yes, Most of us writing about events which have already happened, or technology, should mention correct facts and figures since that alone builds credibility. But i feel due care should also be taken that you give credit to the author/blog/webpage from where you have sourced your information. This also helps in linking to additional content that the reader might want to read if s/he is interested to dig deeper on that fact.
Very less I make use of stats....But definitely I need to know the facts as including interesting facts always makes the article interesting..Whenever I am writing about an Android App, I often try to convey to my readers about the total number of people who have downloaded that particular App from Google Play Store.
My blog is all about crime, violence, law, litigations, politics. Stats and facts are key to each of my posts..including those belonging to contests.
Yes it is, no harm taking cues!
Though I never had much use of stats in my posts, I wont read someone if I find that they are incorrect about some stats, or selectively mis-quoting some.
Of course Aditya, else people wont believe, read or come back to the blog if the stats and facts were not right. Yes I do use lot of facts stats and figures from verified research groups and publish them and its plays a very crucial part for developing trust with my readers
