How is this contest different from the Road Trip Competition. They both look the same to me.Frown

Ranjith

Actually not much difference, but still finding differences is not a difficult task. Wink

The focus of the other contest was the road ( because Ambi Pur is used in a car which moves on the road ) While the focus here is the entire trip including travel, hotel etc ( because one can book everything through Yatra ) It's a different thing that everyone submitted travelogues for the road trip contest....

LOL!!! That was such a fail. I wish I was able to buy the domain as soon as theirs expired, but I guess they would have had a domain lock down.

Can I write a travelogue in two or more parts and submit the link seperately for this contest? Or should i consolidate all of the links in a single post?

Ranjith
from hyderabad

Yes Prasanna, you can. You should submit the link of your first part on IndiVine. At the end of your first post in your blog, give the link to the second part.

[ Note : Animesh asked the same question for one of the contests and Renie gave the above answer ]

I have the following Queries:

1. We can 'take our family or friends' to just any one specific single 'place on the planet'? Or can we cover a number of places (close together to be covered in 1 trip!)?

(So many places on my exploration map!!!)

Want to be clear about this- 'place' can mean just a village/city? or country? or continent?

What does Yatra exactly expect from our post?

2. Making our 'trip the happiest one ever' would be based on our imagination, right? But, happiness- level & idea- differs from person to person!

(Knowing the Judges idea of Happiness makes sense!!!)

Please help! :)

Razi
from Malappuram

1. I think  you can cover any number of places in any planet but should be under a post InnocentInnocent

Place is as simple as place .. why so much confusion about it..? Smile

2. Post which one made you happier.. defenitely the Jury also will be happy with them.. Innocent

Nb:- All are my views not Jury's SmileTongue out

Anita

Thanks for your views,  Razi!

Anita

1. I wanted clarification about 'place' coz the Qn is-

'If you could take your family or friends to any place on the planet'... :)

For me, Place can be Planet Earth as I wanna explore the whole Planet! World Tour will do! :)

2. As the post will be about a place we have never visited before, but wish to visit, what we do there will be a fictional account!

Unless someone writes about a place she/he has already visited! But, why do that when a whole world of choices is available! :)

N.B- Just want to be sure of what is expected...

Please do share your views.

For all the contests which have been organised till now, winners were not asked to pay any taxes. So, it will probably be the same with this contest too. Laughing

Blogging contests don't have prizes big enough for the Sponsors to insist on the winner paying the involved tax. The TDS that is deducted for prizes that fall in the tax bracket sometimes need a PAN number of the winner. This TDS is reflected in your tax statement for the year... so if a sponsor does ask for your PAN number, do remember to ask for the TDS certificate as you may need it when you file your return.

disha kotak

Hi arvind ,

I hv come across a number of companies that insist on the winner to get a gift tax challan and only then are they given the prizes , i.e. 33% of the value of the gift.

Remember the shave or crave contest from Gillette ,

Well I had to pay a huge tax for my trip to Paris ,

So was just making sure same is not the case , here.

Nandini Deka
from Bombay

o yes...in shave or crave they wanted tax for the ipads too...there was bit of brouhaha thread here too regarding that

Ranjith

Anita

@Arvind - I never knew about having to ask for the TDS certificate. Thanks for the info.

@Disha-

When I won a cash-prize in a Quiz from Red FM, I was given a cheque with an amount 33% less than what I had won.

However, in another Quiz from the same Radio Channel, when I won a trip to Bangkok to attend the Bangla Film Awards, Red FM sponsored the whole trip and I had to pay nothing. Even Lux did not demand anything for the London-Meet-Abhishek-Aishwarya-Trip.

Ditto when my kid won Colombo-Meet-Yuvraj-Singh-Trip from HUL and HK Disneyland trips from Kurkure & Disney India. However, this year, when she was again shortlisted by Disney India, we got to learn that a tax amount per family-member was to be paid owing to the stricter laws now.

In most cases, they clearly announce if Tax is to be borne... Didn't Gillette inform you about the same before you won?

Wish they do then we know exactly what to expect. Anyway, those bitten by the travel-bug will spend!
