What's your motivation to blog?

I am sure this topic may have been touched upon somewhere, sometime in Indiblogger forums. Still, I wanted to know,

1) What keeps the bloggers (who are not professional bloggers) ticking and keep churning post after post?

2) Motivation to blog originates from no. of hits / popularity or just that you feel strongly about something and thus you blog - even if no one reads your blog?

Well, I write because I have to and it feels great to have an outlet available, even though no one reads it, except from few friends and well wishers...

So, what is it you are chasing end of the day - popularity (measured by comments or hits) or satisfaction of writing something great (measured by how your heart rates your post?)

I feel so many emotions, when I am alone with the nature, I watch birds, trees, moon....stars. Everything make me poetic, even a tree which is cut and dry leaves all that give some lesson of life, reflect some emotion, that I can relate with the human life. So I write. I like motivational stuff also. Because many friends have motivated me, I am improved and living a better life, I should contribute this society, so I write motivational. Advaita philosophy has fascinated my life so much and gave the peace in life, so I can't stop myself from writing about Advaita and telling about it's glory to almost everybody.

Of course, the popularity, the motivational comments from friends, the critisicm, all that make write more and more.
