Blog dead, Author alive?

I think this has happened to every blogger at one point of time. There occurs a time when - "We can't post ANYTHING!". Some call it as writer's block. But whatever it is, puts us off to a great extent. So much so that you don't even want to take a look at your comments section or go Blog-hopping. If this has happened to you,(the probability of which is 85%) what did you do to combat it?

The block happens cyclically in my case and usually preceded by a huge spurt in writing. How to manage it? Well, im no expert but i take a break and then if the mind still does not come around to writing, I just write a random rambling mostly meaningless post and publish it. It usually helps in breaking the stupor. of course the side effect is that my blog may have a few absolutely random posts. But the thing is, when I read them again I actually enjoy them!

@ Pavan: "the probability of which is 85%." Where did you get that from? The statistical analysis of Blogstipation (aka Blogger's block) in active bloggers?

Wow, I thought those times of silence are the ones that really charge you up! Good times....

Renie

That is what I normally do. In real life, when among friends, I usually keep talking crap when I can't find anything interesting. But I don't want to do that on my blog for obvious reasons. Laughing And I wrote a new post. Though it wont help any of my current readers, it will surely help the developer community. Smile

@Pavan - think about it this way - what inspires you to speak? Let's assume that you're at a party with five of your closest friends, and a topic comes up which you are passionate about. Could anything stop you from voicing your opinion? And would not your friends listen to what you have to say?

So out of the hundred people you know, five are definitely willing to listen to you. That means out of every million people on the internet, there are 50000 people who are interested in what you have to say. All you have to do is make sure they find you, and make sure you never stop talking! Smile

I must confess though - I can very rarely think of anything to say on my own blog. I guess I was answering my own doubts in response to your question! Embarassed

That, I can't because I don't know anyone that famous who will actually want to write an article on my blog. And the ones I know have their own blogs to tend to.

It has never happened to me yet. But if it happens the best thing is to take a break. We all need it at some point of time. Do something different and thoughts will come pouring in. Guest blogging is another option. You can ask someone else to blog instead of you for some time to keep the blog going.
