ASIA CUP March 2012 - Discussion Thread
India embark on a 3 game group stage to face their Asian friends (or not!) in the once-in-two-years tournament, The Asia Cup. All matches taking place at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium in Mirpur, Bangladesh.
India will face:
- Sri Lanka (again) on March 13, Tuesday. / Ind won by 50 runs
- Bangladesh (hosts) on March 16, Friday. | Ind lost by 5 wickets
- Pakistan (arch-rivals) on March 18, Sunday. | Ind won by 5 wickets
And if they end up top two, they'll be in the finals. Can the Men in (Light)Blue put up a solid performance? They are the defending champions of the tournament, having won the last edition in 2010.
The squad: MSD (capt), V.Kohli (vc), S.Tendulkar, S.Raina, Rohit Sharma, G.Gambhir, M.Tiwary, Y.Pathan, I.Pathan, R.Jadeja, R.Ashwin, Rahul Sharma, P.Kumar, R.V.Kumar, A.Dinda

22-3-2012: Bangladesh v/s Pakistan in the finals.

Yes.. SOS Lanka.. get wickets or you are knocked out. Expecting Banglas to beat India tmrw after a loss today is as near extreme optimism.
They are capable! 
but then, if that happens, is it safe for them to cross the border and return back to India? A loss to a strong Aussies is okay, but to a not-so-strong Bangladesh might be unacceptable right?
I know. But in this successive losses situation, would that still be accepted?

Pakistan beats Sri Lanka. The Islanders are now out of the tournament.
With 3 matches left, Bangladesh need to beat both India and Sri Lanka to compete for a finals slot.
If India beat them tomorrow, the finals are settled.

Yes, just the one.. Dinda gets a game ahead of Vinay Kumar.. which was predictable. Why is Jadeja still in the side when he's underperformed? Weird ploys by MSD.
Bangladesh want to chase the total tonight, so they've elected to field on winning the toss. Can they restrict the Indians to a sub-par total on a good batting track? Time will tell.
