Ad Links - SEO & Adesnse violation
Recieve an e-mail today. This startup wants me to put up a URL in my blog's sidebar. They are willing to pay for the link.
Is it legal? Can I keep that paid link along with Adsense? Will it negatively affect my blog wrt SEO? Don't want this to hurt my Google performance.
Can I go ahead with this?
Need your advice on this matter. Thanks
Check this out. Found it just now. On the Google website,
Although you may sell ads directly on your site, it is your responsibility to ensure that these ads cannot be confused with Google ads.

I think, I can now go ahead with the ad link. What say, folks?
@Gyanguru or any one else
Predominant traffic to my blog comes from within India. U.S is 2nd.
So which secondary ad service do you suggest I implement on my blog, in addition to Google?
How long does Chitika take to respond? I had submitted my blog for consideration on Sunday. Today is Thursday. No reposnse yet.
Do they reply back telling application is rejected? On their site they said they reply back withing 1-2 working days. How many days did you have to wait for the response?
as far as i know.. google will monitor all your moves, they will not allow you to place any other advertisements than their own...
they have once deactivated my adsense avvount for placing flipkart link :(Do at your own risk...
No quite the case. Google does not want you to use another ad service that is similar to it - contextual. Chitika isn't. Also, role-model adsense publisher Labnol currently uses Blogads along with Adsense. Perhaps Flipkart's ad service [no idea about it] is also contextual. That is why your adsense got disabled.
Google does not like Link selling. But that does not mean you cannot put a link to other sites. Google uses its own algorithm to determine if it is link selling or just a link to a related site. Your AdSense may not be affected unless you link to porn or illegal websites. But your reputation with Google could be affected depending on the reputation of the linked site. Linking to bad sites would make your site also classified as a friend of bad guys!
If the link is completely unrelated to the topic of your site, stay away from it. If you get paid well and you don't care about losing a little bit of reputation, go for it.
Yes, the site is completely unrelated to what i normally jot down on my blog. Its a groupon-like Indian site that wants to buy a link.
Will my Google ranking also get hurt if I make the paid link nofollow?
I absolutely don't want to do anything intentionally that hurts my standing with Google, either its search ranking or adsense. I don't know how much they'll pay. I'm asking around if such a move is a wise one.
The thought of getting a one-time lumpsump amount for absolutely doing nothing is very tempting, though :D
1.) I signed up with Chitika just now. Will be told if my appliation is approved in 2 working days. Do members here have experiance with Chitika? Please share them. Thanks
2.) By which day of the month does the Google Adsense cheque normally arrive? Courier or Govt post?
I have used chitika along with adsense, the combination of two would only work when you have a good amount of traffic from US.
For adsense it does not matter from which region you are getting the traffic from but chitika is more US centric
In India adsense cheque arrives via courier, in rest of the countries one has to check the payment terms in adsense control panel
I don't think it won't do any harm to your adsense.
But, I don't know about other stuff.
