It's time to review your blog's performance and your IndiRank of 2011
The year is almost coming to an end. It's time to look back and reflect on the performance of your blog. How far were you able to reach your targets and how happy are you with your performance? How much rise has your blog readership seen? What has been the happiest moment with your blog in 2011? What has been the biggest achievement of your blog in 2011? And finally, a question that requires a lot of hard word: What has been the average of your IndiRanks of 2011?
More questions to be added as we approach the new year
Here's a new question: What were the most sorrowful moments of your blog?
Reason: update
cant say much about my blog :)
havn't been bloggin so much iin 2011 so frequency is low and ranks went unnoticed
got back to blogging only in december so will just wait to see what the rank comes out to be :) and as of now the rank stays at 65 :) maybe cause of a few posts at the end of November and start of December.
Thanks Arti, hopefully 2012 will be a better year.. and I do intend to maintain my Indirank this time around :)
DS, it does give maximum joy.. I cant deny that.
Targets: My main aim was to match the number of posts I'd maintained on average over the last few years. While I did come up short (43) eventually, I think I did better with regards to quality vs quantity.
Performance: Well, I had a BlogAdda Tangy Tuesday Pick and more importantly, had 2 stories published in short-story collections, namely the 'Chicken Soup for the Indian Doctor's Soul' and in the upcoming 'Urban Shots : Bright Lights'. I also had 5 stories published in the short story site, d.ustb.in , one of which still remains the most read story at the site. I also wrote an article for an NGO regarding cancer awareness, which was appreciated by them.
Readership: On an average, I get 100-120 visits per day. my present "visits to blog" number as per tracker stands at 96,337
Happiest moment: Obviously, when I found out I was getting published. It means a lot to any of us, I guess as bloggers, to see our work published.
Average of IndiRanks of 2011: Extrememly inconsistent, I have to admit. Have a high of 83 presently and a low of 63 in the middle of the year. My bad, since I was going through writer's block in between.
Congrats on getting your works published Dr. Definitely it is a very happy moment for any writer to see his work in print and applauded by many. Wish that all your IndRanks come on track too and more and more of your stories get appreciated and reach out to a wider audience in 2012. Good Luck! :)
- Target ~ To become an authority on the topic I write on
- Readership ~ Rose, fell down and is rising again. Trying go penetrate the Search Engines for a more stable readership.
- Achievements ~ Migration to Wordpress and my Indiranks
- Happy Moments ~ Follow by Nat Geo and mention as one of the best Desi Blogs on Travel
- Sad Moments ~ All those server downtimes .. losing GFC friends during the WP migration
- Indirank Average ~ Just 3 till now : 58>63>74 .. I guess to early to take an average
Although am a relatively new blogger and started in a small way only in July 2011 (big way by Oct 2011), 2011 has been fullfilling in terms of experience. Gained a lot pf new experience, learned to write, learned coding again, and made lots of new friends. Most importantly, relearned appreciating others blogs and experiences. Hope 2012 will be a fun year will all you guys.
WOW! Those are some real happy moments for a travel blogger! Awesome achievements! Wish you the very best in blogging and travelling this year!
Thanks guys ! Want to travel through out year but right now now bank account reflects that of Greece :P
Probably my blogging moments were not done yet. yesterday night I has a sudden stroke of inspirations and wrote a satire on Lok Pal. It has been selected as Spicy Saturday Post by Blog Adda. They year started for me in Match with Blog Adda selecting my post as Tangy Tuesday Posts when i came back to blogging after 4 months back and year ended with Spicy Saturday. But because of the brainwave I could not post special post remembering the year that went by. Anyway I guess that would have been a boring post no one would have enjoyed.
Though I felt I could have done more last year, as things stand I posted 63 posts in 10 months , out of which 9 were recognized in one one line forum or the other. That is a hit rate of 1 in 7 posts or one every month which is pretty decent. Plus I have got a contract to do reviews for a book review site. (Free book - Free Review). So actually I should look back at last year with satisfaction. Only disappointment is I have won no contests at Indiblogger. But here I have won a few new friends. So not a bad deal overall, eh? Hopefully next year I will win a contest too. I won my Blog-a-ton after 12 attempts. I have made only 6 attempts here.
Thanks, DS.
- How far were you able to reach your targets and how happy are you with your performance? - I dont set targets. Not usually anyways. I guess the target I had in mind at the start of 2011 was to be writing all year. Planned to post each day, but that didn't work out. I'm quite happy with my performance though. 328 posts in the year is quite a good return I suppose.
- How much rise has your blog readership seen? - In all honesty, I cannot answer, because in the year, due to multiple reasons, I've had to change platforms twice. Its a miracle that I've not closed my pen and stopped writing, thanks to a whole lot of wonderful friends Indiblogger has presented me with.
- What has been the happiest moment with your blog in 2011? - I read over a hundred poets in two days or so in April/May and to my delight, a lot of them graced my blog back and my post that week ended up getting 154 comments. (308 with my replies) which was the most one of my little verses have received.
- What has been the biggest achievement of your blog in 2011? - Biggest achievement would have to be that it stayed alive. (I know thats brutally straightforward, but that's the way the pen writes I suppose)
- And finally, a question that requires a lot of hard word: What has been the average of your IndiRanks of 2011? Highest of 84, lowest of 73 I think, so average would be somewhere in between the two. Not sure of exact stats, I removed old blogs from profile, so the lowest rank is as far as I know, 73.
- What were the most sorrowful moments of your blog? Quittting. I did it actually, was stagnant nearly a month before I pulled myself together and returned to writing. Another sad part would be losing a good friend in Blogsville. I had to walk away, but I think, feel and believe that it was for the best, for both of us.
Yep. Lets see how much this year. I'm not gonna strain the muse. But there is poem-a-day challenges in possibly February, April & November, so it'd balance itself out to around the same I suppose.
2011 has been the best year for my Blog. Thanks to you indibloggers and this wonderful platform.
Indirank - 67, 73, 78, 82, 69, 63, 71, 84.
well to be honest i havent been much regular on blogging front and there are few sad statistics from my side which I plan not to post here.I have lost most of my readers this year :(
Do blog STE and make sure you gain them all back next year, Good Luck!
always a time to regroup and come out fresh, no problems start afresh and see the readers coming back
Cheer up and all the best for 2012
Well said Santosh! Life needs to move on ignoring the failures of the past but at the same time learning lessons from them. All thye best for 2012 STE
Targets: Baap re blogs mein bhi targets, yeh kya corporate office hai???
Performance: Very Happy!! After starting the blog in 2009 (5 posts published), 2010 was just bad (0 posts) ... I have published 95 posts till now this year, so the fire has re- ignited BIG TIME!!! Got GPR of 2 which later came down to 1 (current GPR)...
Readership: It hit all time high of about 2500 page views per days during the world cup .... Now its about 50-100 per day...
Happiest moment: When India won the World Cup What can be a more happy moment for a cricket blogger in India???
Biggest achievement: I think its yet to arrive...
Average of IndiRanks of 2011: 65.285714285714285714285714285714
Great stuff - 2500 views during world cup
good job DS... proabably a 'mandira' talk on your blog would sure make it an hit overnight
good going this year, wish your blog performance soars greater heights in the coming year!
OMG, kya avg hai ;)
Keep Blogging DS, your blog is the only cricket blog I follow, hope you keep updating it regularly :)
writing won't work DS... well you know
What are you guys upto with Manidra @ DS and Santosh
On Your blog or TV . Anyways her cricket knowledge is equal to Zero .
You wasted my time man , I just called her regarding this . Anyways will tell her that he was joking .
haha by the way who were talking about cricket when she was on TV
@DS - probably a video chat would do wonders
I was shocked looking at your IndiRank ignoring the little decimal.
Even the sum of all the IndiRanks that have been awarded till date will be far below that rank.....
Targets : Nothing . At the beginning of this year i never thought that i would be blogging so much and would be traveling so less compared to last year .
Happiest moment : every post has brought the back joy of actual traveling . To be frank very few posts are written immediately after the travel . My current post is about my trip in April . So that gives me the chances of re traveling to that place.
Achievements : Getting comments from your favorite travel bloggers , whom I have been following them for ages . Whose blog have been the sole source of inspiration to travel and eventually start my blog .
Indirank : favorite 71 , i don't think this average . but had been stuck with this rank for long time . Till Indi decided to upgrade everyone with bumper Nov'11 rank .
Way forward : To ensure the same flow of posting .
great Dhiraj, your blog is very inspiring and the amount you travel envies every other traveller around here.
may your blog prosper more and let your travels cover the left out inches on the map
happy travelling, happy blogging
I could very much relate to your review Dhiraj. Hope that in the coming year, you get to travel much more and blog as much as well!
Wish you a Happy 2012! And best wishes for your way ahead :)
With followers like you around, we would definitely do that DS, and you are most welcome to join in
@ Santosh , thanks , but 2012 will for sure will be less of traveling and more of working (its the way we choose for our self ).
@ Arti , thanks , would require lot of best wishes for next year .
@ DS thanks ,
Readership this year has been consistently at 2000-3000 per month this year. Guess this has been an improvement though in the past I have have had greater sporadic hights.
Followers this year has gone from 80 to 158.
Posted 57 posts so far this year - the highest in 4 years
Indi Rank average would be close to 71. Can't consider first few months when it was 48 as I had posted nothing from Nov 2010 to Feb 2011 and Ind Rank was down till Jul 2011. After that my rank was 78-79, Went down to 69 after they revised method. Now 81.
Blogging moments
1. Story Space in her heart selected as Tangy Tuesday post by Blogadda
2. Story In search of freedom won first prize at blog-a-ton

4.Won best post of month award at Blog junta for post 'Fling with Fate'
5. 2 of my poems featured by Blog Junta in poetry writing month
6. Got free book from blog adda for review
Thanks, Arti
Thanks, DS. Thats a great compliment. Btw, good to see your fiery KFC post has caught fire and hit the front page.
these are superstar stats
Thanks Ranjith and Santosh.
Good idea, DS. Will think about it. If something comes up before the end date, I will write. I don't write articles. The articles get themselves written through my fingers and key pad. So if your idea wants itself to be expressed through me, it shall.
No real targets. :-) I got my own domain last year november and one of the targets was to import all my 150 odd blogs from wordpress in an organized manner. 1 week, 1 post plus the new ones I write. :-) and ofcourse i wanted a decent readership on this platform. it was less than 10/day when i started off now its around 70/day.. I'm good with this number till now :-) and since i am not a niche blogger, its difficult to rise up the rankings and viewerships, unless you are very very active.
Happiest moment eh? Umm.. when i won the Dove contest (the first one i mean) it was a big platform, and there were more than 400 entires (correct me if i am wrong), i waspleased with myself. and moreover that was the first post, i wrote as a 'conversation between two people' -- something which i didnt try my hands on before.
biggest achievment.. is when i got an advertising offer on my blog ... from a french clothing company.. (thanks to the QVENDO post i guess, coz i dont write about cloths at all)
indirank avg - 71.2 :-) good score.. i suppose.
sorrowful moment .. well.. i dont have any.. :-) its a different thing that i usually write when I am sad... but sorrowful moments after i have written my heart out ? NO.. not till now.
Good gooing Sauvik
I think that this year was too good for you with your two big achievements. Hope that you experience even more sorrowful moments in 2012 to bring out the best in you. All the best for 2012
What do I write? still more than a week to go and loads of things to blog about
So far the journey has been great, now into my 4th year of blogging and probably this is my best year of blogging.
Y targets here too, already a jinxed life with targets everywhere Readership was limited and is slowly on the scale upwards and hope to keep all my readers justified of subscribing to my blog! Every day blogging is a happy moment and its all the more happier when people appreciate the information provided and thank for the helpful notes.
average of Indiranks should be somewhere around 55 ( lazier than ranjith even to check, forget calculating)
more lines to follow as more questions are posted!
wow, 4th year, I wonder if I could survive that long!
4 Years!! WOW!
Of course, we all love your blog! Hope that your blogging journey keeps going on and on and.. on......
Best wishes :)
thanks Harish, Arti, DS
Good times and Bad time - still a little persistence and you can survive :)
Arti - A game changer introduction to your blog, inspired in many ways and I try to pick up few bits from each of the blogs I like, thanks to you for your support and encouragement :)
DS- All years have been good in one way or the other, hope 2012 surpasses the rest, thanks :)
4 years is indeed a very long journey. Hope that your journey stays pleasant for the rest of your life.
Nice. I liked the look of your blogs. I shall follow your blog more this year. I like the stuff about birds and all that. Even I like watching, though I don't write about them. Who knows - inspired by you and Arti next year I may start travel blogging as well.
Targets: I hadn't really set any targets. I just wanted my blog to become popular. As time passed by, I realised that it isn't possible for a personal blog to reach great heights (with the exception of a few) And so, today I am satisfied with whatever I have achieved.
Readership: Since I was blogging only since a little more than one year, the percentage increase in raedership is approximately infinity. It was 0 in the beginning.
Happiest moments: I have seen many happy moments and would like to share with you'll as much as I can. One such moment was when I had received some 6 or seven comments on my blog, (I know that the number is quite a low one, but still I can find happiness in it) which was the highest till then. And these comments were from those bloggers whom I always admired. They had well established blogs, even though they had been blogging for not more than two or three years.
I was also very happy on winning runner up/ consolation prizes in two of the contests at IndiBlogger. These contests appreciate my talent and also help me know how far I need to go to become a successful writer/ blogger. I have also won a writing contest organised in our college. The prize was worth 2 or 3 thousand. Unfortunately, I could use them since all of them were discount coupons which made no real sense.
Every time someone on this forum praises me, I keep flying high up in the sky. I only hope that I won't be let down later on.
As I have said in another thread started by me, I always feel uneasy to tell people around me about my blog. But a few days back, I had to share the same with a few around me. One of them was my friend. He had praises me a lot ( By this time, you should have realised how easily people can flatter me). My happiness knew no bounds then. He also said that he woud start blogging soon, inspired by me. Another person was one of my classmates. He said that he had read a few posts of mine and found them to be very interesting, especially the post written for the Dove contest.
I was also very happy after moving my blog to a custom domain, though the happiness did not last for more than a few hours.
I was also happy on successfully concluding (and not organising) Friends 34
Biggest Achievement: Yet to be achieved
But still there is one senseless achievement to be mentioned. My entry for the crusade against chlorine received around 10 000 hits (which is a very huge number for my blog ) from Google, almost all of which bounced back in less than a few seconds.
Average of my IndiRanks: I am too lazy to calculate it. Can someone help me?
And concluding my reply, do ignore typos if you find any.
I wish that there was an edit button for replies too. I see a number of typographical errors in the above reply....
the writer has finally written and we know writers prepare a draft, edit and then publish their work, but no such option on Indi
no problem, we will bear the glitches, it makes reading all the more fun
a big fat reply...
Kudos for all your hard work and the Friends 34 contest too, loved reading the book!
No comments or few comments, only the feedbacks matter is what I believe and don't worry, after this post, you popularity will rise
Y not buy a tree house and stay in the sky whenever you are flying high, and come down whenever u want? rather than waiting for someone to pull you down
all the best Ranjith, keep rocking
Waiting for a civil engineer to help in the construction of the house proposed by Santosh
One Happy guy! Lucky! Wish you many more of these in the year to come! And yes, thanks for that contest, that was real fun (esp since I had won the first prize ), very creative concept brilliantly done! :)
And where is your avg Indirank score, Cheating!!!
@ Arti @ DS thank you. It has been left for you'll to calculate.
@ Arti You haven't even stated your ranks.....
You were too great to recollect that thing. I hardly remember what we had then: grades or ranks??
And I forgot about your question. I found your first comment funny because......
....
....
....
It was funny!
That was more or less similar to a guest post and I never found the blog owner commenting first addressing the post writer. Or, it might be the case that I haven't come accross too many guest posts.
Thanks for your honest feedback Ranjith
It was more or less like a guest post, but not exactly a guest post. There were many hiccups I faced and even though all the bloggers were v. cooperative, still I had a tough time coordinating and getting them all in, in one single post in a limited period of time. About commenting first, I dont really know but we learn as we observe from senior bloggers and bloggers we admire. In my case, I took it from Here.
I really dont know (neither do I care ) If I looked funny or even if it is a right thing to do or not, but then it is my blog and I can always do things my way.. I feel, It's best kept that way
Are you angry on me?
Anyway, I understand that it is a difficult thing to get such things done coordinating between the various contributors. But still you have donea very good work.
Angry on the Bright little IndiWonder of the IndiForum Why would I? I actually found your reply quite..... Funny
On a serious note, I understand and trust some people enough here to take things positively and in right spirits, so am not a bit angry or any such thing.. ok
Targets - I like to let things flow naturally... So no targets were set at the beginning, so there were no expectations.. Hence, am very happy with however things have turned out to be
Blog readership has definitely increased, yes But how much is difficult to gauge
Happiest Moments - There were two actually.. One was when the Collaborative post that finally went through (you can check more of it here) and second was the day I decided that I would be participating in the Surf contest, very unique experience for me
Biggest Achievement of blog - Kept moving at a consistent pace each month
Average of IndiRanks - 75.5 (Passed out with a distinction, yay! )
And you have to answer all the questions too, Ranjith
I too have the same view as yours regarding targets. Not setting any targets or setting something lower than our maximum capabilities helps us be satisfied with the results. Coming to your collaborative post, I found the first comment in it very funny!!!
Good work Arti, the collaborative post was a good initiative though and it achieved all success only because of you, cheers!
Great Arti . Have great year ahead .
Not setting goals is the best way. No expectations, no deterrent!
@Ranjith: Yes, I think most of us here do agree that setting targets is not necessary but ensuring that you are putting in your best efforts is enough for a good show.
And why? Yes, I do have a good sense of humour, I know but still what is so funny abt that?
@Santosh No, no I had done nothing. It was all possible due to the co operation, support and motivation of bloggers like you. I remember how I had irritated you with my consistently inconsistent messages But really, i was very happy when it finally did come out as proposed.. Thank you
@Dhiraj Thankyou and wish you the same. I hope to travel to many more places along with both of you and Santosh :)
@Harish: Yeah, that's the best way to go forward!
Thanks DS, glad you liked the post :)
And abt the stats, sab mehnat mujhse hi karwaoge kya?
@ Arti Give your username and password so that we can access the your IndiRank history to calculate its average
DS has confused me.
By the way, wearing two spectacles one over the other would be a tedious task
Confuse them if you cant convince them
Who's them here? You are too confusing DS
It's most probably yourself, Arti since you always seem to get confused
What- Confusion
Who - DS
When - Just now by asking these three questions
