Hi friends,

I would like to seek expertise from fellow bloggers on how i could sell advertising space on my blog. Though i have recently monetized my blog in the past one month. I really dont see much activity with the google adsense as well as with affiliate marketing sites. I dont know if its too early, but even on days when i get over 200 page views i find it hard to belive there are no clicks, leave alone online shopping through affiliate marketing. Could some of you please share your experience on monetizing your blog and what are the best ways to sell advertising space on your blog for a fixed sum. Thanks in advance

@anand. U can remove ur blog url from the main content... Its not really needed here. As others have already said their experiences, i wud like to say one thing. U can also go for affliate ads. These are ur ads for recommending products / services, and u get paid when someone who clicked that link makes a purchase. I havent had big success with that yet but its also an option.

yes, even affiliate marketing is a good option. You can also think of writing an article about the products and why you like them, This will help in increasing the curiosity in the readers and a few of them may purchase them.

Guys, This discussion is getting really interesting, @chaitanya, boss can you offer me a backlink to my blog, i would love to get an extra boost on my blog...20,000 hits is phenomenal. do you have an SEO agency that does this magic for you? i dont think non generic blogs like my blog can get that kind of traffic. @abhi i agree with you only selling ad space directly to brands can generate revenue. Adsense and affiliate marketing just get a whole lotta free advtg space on your blog.

I don't think 200 Page view are enough to earn from adsense....i get more than 1000 hits a day...and all i got in 20 days is 16 euro....so you can imagine...

I am trying to get more out of it...but lets see...

You can use buysellads.com. But you will need a high visit count to get advertisers.

200 pv's are nothing to earn anything substantial, 200 pv's per hour or every 30mins can bring something atleast. i get about 20k + visits per day to make anything substantial.

yes, good unique content always pays off along with some patience.

@Sorcerer, i agree with you its better to focus on content and probably opportunities will come by at the appropriate time. Its a big waste of time and efforts for monetizing. it calls for much more time than core content!!!

Its a waste of time if you're not doing it properly. What controllable from your end is SEO, website design, content management and consistency in the quality of of the article. Developing trust and making them to come back to your source/subscribing it takes a lot of time. Its no different from selling up an online newspaper or a news source.

Guys,

Thanks for all the insights @Ranjith, does google adsense offer CPM ads? if so how do you opt for those settings?

I removed adsense from my blogs, even earning 2 $ per day may not be worth the effort unless some back up plan is available to enhance revenue.  I feel personally one has to achieve the niche and loyal and regular network which may be commercially explored in future in the line of business one wants to get into.  Smile

Hi Animesh,

Thanks for your feedback, so in your view whats an avg base number of page views one should have before you can expect any returns?

I am worried to tell you this but the traffic has to be really very high. I am not sure even 1000 hits can bring you some profit.

I get 1000 page views everyday but earn almost nothing from adsense barring a few days in between...

@ Arti I suggest that you go for CPM ads where you will be paid for ad views and not ad clicks.

@Ranjith what is CPM ads? Dont know much about it. Is it connected to Google? What is better in the long run, adsense or CPM?And how do we go about instilling it on our blogs?
