An Idiot's guide to be the Worst Blogger Ever

Many of young India blogs, it is a fashion and gives a place to you to stand out in the crowd.  Want to become the worst blogger? Read On!

1. Never Know what you want to write onto! Write aimless topics one after the other.

2. Never Research what people search in the search engine. Just write what you want to write with a proud pappa syndrome! "It is my blog afterall! I give a s@!t to who reads and who does not'

3. Never read your own blog after you completed or finished writing. Let there be millions of typos and grammatical flaws.

4. Never take blogging seriously! Dont read and dont try to build links or aim for higher traffic. That way one can easily continue to be stupid!

5. Dont read or learn web development or HTML basics or CSS basics. Load your page with tons of widgets placed all around the page!

6. Do not ever in your dreams also categorize your blogs. Just keep it in archive format as december, january and all that.

7. Do not ever read what is a search engine optimization and dont ever try SEO for your blogs.

8. Rely only on your friends to come and read your blogs and never submit it to article directories, web directories! In that way nobody can tell you that you are wrong! Friends dont!

9. Most importantly , never believe that there is something called a "Web Analytic". Never use that and never ever try to know what is Unique visitor, Return visitor, landing pages and all that. Who cares!

10. with 5 unique visitor daily, do keep an amazon widget in your blog and be frustrated that no one is purchasing. ( If there are 1 lack unique visitor in your site, there will be one purchase)

11. Update your blog once in 3 days! Give me a break, for a serious blogger, it should be atleast 3 blogs a day initially.

12. Try to pull traffic only by "Please Review my blog"

13. Dont know the definition of "Niche"? You are right there with this topic. You are on my friend.

14. Dont purchase your domain ever. Use bloggers even after 6 months of your blogging. In that way you will have a great role to prosper somebody else's website.

15. Think that blogging is a hobby! Well it might be for you, why to expect people reading it. They will only if you write something that they want! If you are not serious about earning money from blogging, you are absolutely the example character of this post!

There are many other common things that everybody knows like copy content, be a good web citizen blah blah blah.................

It is your choice to aim high to take it seriously or waste "bytes" and "bytes" of storage space with meaningless stuff that is not needed by web readers. Welcome to reality!

I disagree on a point. I have my blog on wordpress since 6 months. Do I really need to publish it. Can't I go about with wordpress and then purchase my domain after 6 months when everybody knows my blog? Another thing people do confuse between aimless topic and innovative ones. Some weeks before I wrote on how Maggi Masala is my best friend. Is that aimless? :|

If you cant do great; try condemming things to prove yourself great!  The best way to be rejected by the readers is condemm others. Keep doing that and you will be no where!

Umesh I call this Hipocracy.

I was surprised like hell to see

Subham Singh

writing suck in Alexa review and play smart in the forum. No place sucks. These are all for learning. I learn something from you, your learn something from me. If I cant, I will stick around, if you cant still you stick around. Because at the end of the day we love hanging out with each other and we share our knowledge the way we can or we feel.

I can list out many such statements by many so called seniors in IndiBlogger. But Alexa is damm public place and if one writes as hell as that, he has no right to stick around in this place.

Rupam it was wake up call for me if one has reviewed Indiblogger as a site which sucks we should clarify the same in huge numbers I have done my duty.  Check out my review on Indiblogger :

Indi blogger site is the best forum in India for bloggers.  It is managed by a team of friends who have passionately developed this forum to integrate all bloggers.  The best part of the Indi blogger is that they organise frequent meets across India which makes it linking virtual world with realty.  Pros :1.  Avenue for participating in contests and win prizes2.  Opportunity to meet other fellow bloggers once a while in your own city.3.  Linking up with fellow bloggers in one's specific niche area for exampleTravel, Marketing, etc.4.  Indi Talk helps in interacting with fellow bloggers onlineCons :1.  Contests can lead to doctored reviews if not regulated correctly.2.  Profile photos are linked through Gravatar.3.  Ranking may disappoint many bloggers.4.  Begging for votes or review is minimised, because of self moderationteam.I am a member in almost 10 forums and i would rate Indi blogger as the best forum to be associated in India and abroad.  Sponsorers enjoy the no frills meet more than the bloggers i suppose that to conducted on Sunday Noon, i only hope it is conducted in the morning session from 9 to 1 pm.

Well your topic is a wake up call for some of us, i don t wanna to get into the rat race for getting traffic.  Of course as normal human being we expect some reciprocal visits and comments.  To commercialise a blog is the key if one is getting into a profession.  I hope ultimately by blogging his or her way one discovers a niche which can be commercialised. Once we have a reasonable stream of income one can go for a domain registration and hosting etc, which involves cost as Leo Vinay has mentioned.

I believe getting into Analytics, SEO, Alexa etc at the end of the day is a classic trap laid by the providers, we may eventually have cough up for utilising their services.  Let me remain as Aam Aadmi's Guide Lolz if that definition fits in your terminology. Smile

  • Poor customer support
  • Site is slow and unresponsive
Comments: The bloggers which live there beg votes for their posts. They are not IndiBloggers but IndiBeggars and the IndiRank is worthless. Enough said. " Hipocracy Haan?  You tell others that Indi sucks and stick around and ask for reviews? Seeing quite a few reaction over here which I thought I would not react to, but I am sure I have to, here is what I feel.

Yes It is not about self certification. Judge on the parameters that defines a Good Blogger.

I can Write whatever my mind says and I can get lost in the words and write endless poetries, but then I do not react if somebody says I am not good enough. Because then I am not here to be good, I am here to enjoy myself.

Amature blogger huh? and having affiliate widgets all around the place? Conduct a public poll and dont allow your friends not to vote!  Get the certificate............

"I do what I feel" is a sentence for lame excuse of one's inability or unwillingness to improve. It does not need me  saying that. It is and has always been that way.

lastly,

If not many people are reading my articles, i consider that to be a failure and is a failure.  And Many may not know, I am a researcher and have over 20 patents against my name in biometric and wireless and I sincerely earn enough money to retire at the age of 35.

Blogging is just a  hobby for me too. But I hate people not reading me. That is why I hate when I look at my traffic rank which is 17 lack in 15 days and PR2 in a month. Because I want to see that PR to 6 and traffic rank bellow 50k and want to see daily 2000 unique visitors visiting. I earn 5$ a day purely from blogging which I donate to charity.

Failure and under achivement might be embraced by few, but as with many here I have my own space too. And in that space I shout and Invite the young guys to come out of the barrier and get what they can get...........

Next time before saying "LOL" think to whom you are saying! Boys I am developing website from 1998, even before Google existed, so if I say these are some of the signs of worst bloggers then yes they definately are.

Well with a PR3 and about 3 years old blog with some fantastic stories , if your traffic rank is 10,592,426  and if your analytic counter's domain itself is expired and an Affiliate widget called library in place in hope of a buy, then you do have a problem or two mate.

That is harsh, but a fact too.

not harsh at all...whats a PR3? ...and ah, thats what happened to that counter...i was wondering what happened to it...is the library for purchase? i thought it just showed the books i have....like a showcase...

damn man, i really need to sit down and talk to a techie...go on suggest...how do i turn my shabby blog to a shining burj al arab?  my ugly duckling to my fair lady?

Hey Rupam, I hear ya. Some real good points there..  Here's my view of it...

1. Definitely, a blog has a theme.. but aimless writing (there is actually something like this.) is like a big blog diary. You dont write a diary to a theme. You write to to rant. And to rant is free will Smile

2. I love to write. My writes are either poetry or stories, very rarely something serious or reality based. I am also a s/w engg and I know of SEO and all.. Innocent but to write for what people search for in search engine isn't my style. People should read you for your writes, not you write for peoples. If a lot of people search for news on Google, don't mean you write what makes news...Smile

3. Grammar is important, very much. I agree on this point, but if your grammar is flawed and you dont know it, blogging can actually help to fix it... Smile

4. I blog for fun, and I dont keep any seriousness in blogging. I read, I find blogs I like, find readers who like my writes...  but that hasn't anything to do with "serious" blogging. Not to me... Tongue out

5. Not every blogger is a techie. Not every blogger wants to be a techie. My best friends are there who are in arts field, even who are school students... Widgets matter, but in the end, the reader goes to the blog to read the post, not the widget right? Smile

6. Labeling is useful, good to help readers... but if the blog has a one theme, say "romance poems", what's the use of categories there? Labels/categories are good, if really helpful for managing content. Smile

7. SEO tools... I did incorporate meta tags into my blog html, but rarely are they detected. You bring readers to ur blog by reading, search engines are there, and they'll help you in their way. SEO is again a term not everyone can understand with ease. If you say to a new blogger, get ur blog SEO'd, he'll need to google SEO first. Wink

8. Your friends.. if they know you well enough, they'll push ur confidence with a wonderful comment on blog, and then help u become better by telling u whats wrong with it in private. Submit it to article websites, forums etc.. very well and good.. but it is a friend who guides you to a forum. You dont find it as soon as you begin blogging unless you have  a friend who does know of it! Smile

9. My blog gets wonderful visitors from loads of article websites, meme blogs, indivine forum and where not! I analyze my blogs quite regularly too, but not so detailed. I don't want that much... Tongue out

10. I don't, and I mean it with full conviction, blog for money. I've been asked to put adsense etc. in my blog but I blog coz I love it, am addicted to it. Laughing

11. A blogger is a human being.. not everyone has 3 blogs or 4 blogs, to update one blog once in three days itself is a big thing Tongue out.. you're not timing that each day u should do so much, it is not a job with goals, but a passion without limits! You don't push your passion when you want to, your passion pushes you on! Smile

12. Only reviews don't get traffic. You read the world, and part of the world reads you... Good point this.. Laughing

13. I don't know it. Honest to god I don't. I read the definition, and I still don't know what it has to do with me getting readers for my blog! Tongue out

14. I've been in blogging four years now.. Been at blogger's, at wordpress, never my own domain and I don't want an own domain either.. It's to me a  waste of cash each month, year.. whatever.. You're putting ur thoughts on a space, doesn't matter if it is .com or .blogspot.com Smile

15. Blogging IS a hobby SmileIt is to me.. and my readers read my blog for my hobby, not coz I'm absolutely "serious" in it. I'm not at all serious about earning money from my blog. Adsense, stay away.. and if that makes me the e.g. of this post, AMEN! Smile

I'm not ignorant to changes around me.. Smile I have an FB page for my blog, I tweet about my posts, I know how to do SEO, to incorporate adsense, to get traffic to my blog... but I don't write for what people search.. I just write what I love to, and let whoever wants to search for that do so! Smile

I hear you about wanting to be known.. but I think we put on masks everywhere in the world, so a blog can be a wonderful place to be yourself than what people want to find! Cool

Not in any way  being rude to your points, they were heard quite well , am just stating my own! Smile

Well changes are there o be taken... wheather you accept it or not, it's bound to come... how many had a facebook account way back 2005? Facebook was alive then too! Its just some of us dont feel the need of the change and try to embrace it when another change is on the cards....

"To be Known" is what every individual wants, whether he accepts it or not is different!

Its good to be ignorant to the changes , and not accepting it! but its better to move on with it...

In fact. what I feel is, that there should be an attitude towards development. I hope all of you are familiar with the terms "Shoot for the Moon, even if you miss it, you'll land among the stars". Is that always true? Do we seriously shoot for the moon? Why not create writers amongst ourselves? Ofcourse there are a lot of writers here that can claim lives of millions, am I wrong? Then why not make it a big affair and get people all over the world to read it?

I'm no body to judge, I'm just an idiot who's in the process of learning. But with our intellect, can't we make a difference? Be it photography or poetry or even a small phrase, don't you want that to be written on history too? Or do you want to stop yourselves from the endless possibilites that you have, just awaiting for you to unlock them as if levels on a game?

I'm sure, as Indians, we all stick to our selves alone. We're never willing to try for the best, when we're given a chance. This happens to most of the cases, am i wrong??? Then how will history be made? If you look at the past, everything and everyone who's gotten into history has made a difference!! And that too in a big way. If you want to be known, you shouldn't just be killing mosquitoes, but you'd be known if you kill a Black Buck. I don't mean anyone should hunt down a black buck or some other endangered species, but shouldn't there be a tendency to excel?

P.S.: I really don't know. Maybe I'm over-reacting at "change". You tell me!

One more thing that you might not know, Idiot's Guide is a term used to describe 'something which can be understood by all without any specialization needed to understand'

It is not used to refer the readers as Idiots as few of you have potrayed with your reaction!

"The Complete Idiot's Guides is an Alpha Books product line of how-to and other reference books that each seek to provide a basic understanding of a complex and popular topic. The term "idiot" is used as hyperbole in claiming ensured comprehension. The approach relies on explaining a topic via very basic terminology. Definitions of words, profiles of people, and a synopsis of events for context are also provided in many cases." And what is worng in showing it to the entire world? How many Sydny Shelton you can name? But you can certanly name D'Vinci code or Godfather or Jurasic Park.

How many knows that there is a sheer great book called "Kick of Grass" by an Indian ? But even a class V student can tell the story of "two states"

An author's best fun is when 1 million copy of a book is sold! When readers read them. That is the point!

"Blogging is all about writing"

If that was really the case, no CMS software would have ever evolved. People would write in plain HTML and Publish them!

Having a Hobby is quite fine, but sincerely when you get '5' visitors to read what you write does hurt! That is human psychology!

a domain name costs INR 149/- in a year and hosting cost 120/- par month! All the best if somebody thinks it is un affordable. few may not afford it, but those who can afford sitting in internet daily for 2 hours, can easyly spend a 100 buck in a month!

"SEO is for prefessionals"

Ask yourself, after writing a great piece of Literature, would you not feel down if nobody discovered it?

It is not about professionalism by friend it is about understanding how a system works. There are thousands of better writer in India than chetan Bhagat, the difference is the others just dont have the confidence to present themselves or make it big!

Ask Rashmi Bansal!

The point is I did not mean to hurt anybody's sentiment here. Mistakes are best told in a hard way!

Cheers!

Ranjith.. thank you you shoot to kill  happy diwali loved your comments and viewpoint..and rupam thank you too for giving your side , it might be helpful to a lot of other bloggers unlike me  and ranjith,

Who cares what others feel about what one blogs..a blog is different for every second person, I never was a blogger when I started out later I began posting pictures words began emanating  from my soul as poems memories and the Internet made me a poet , a pedesrian poet a beggar poet , .. . I refuse to sell my pictures or my blogs my text , I pimp my blogs at Indi Bloggers Google+Twitter why not , I want to show my world as much as see other peoples world too..

And I consider blogging a holisric healing tool through my blog I met some great people , I met all of you , I blog on behalf of my grand daughters so when I die they  will see their world through my eyes .. this is why you have Nerjis Asif Shakir and  Marziya Shakir on Indi Bloggers ..

Marziya Shakir is only 3 and a half, she has seen all her pictures on Flickr from the day she was born 12000 pictures , and she shoots too without my help all by herself .. because her pictures sho by her  are on the net she is a blogger too  as much as anyone else.. she has shot some of the top photographers of the world .. so I am proud to be a blogger and to lay the seeds of blogging for my grand daughters too..

Many of the things stated by you apply for professional and not casual bloggers. Many here are blogging for fun and it isn't a profession, full time or part time.

Never Research what people search in the search engine

We blog to express our ideas and we are not commanded by search engines

 Never take blogging seriously!

We blog for fun!

Dont read or learn web development or HTML basics or CSS basics.

Blogging is all about writing and not web development

Do not ever read what is a search engine optimization and dont ever try SEO for your blogs.

SEO is for professionals

 Dont purchase your domain ever.

Will we ever get back the money?

Think that blogging is a hobby!

Yes, it is!
