What do you think of my blog. I would appreciate a review
I have been blogging for a while now although I am new to Indiblogger. It is great to find a forum for discussing and showcasing our blogs.
<bump>
Wow! That's a lot of reading to be done! On a more serious note, it is commendable that you have maintained such an exhaustive website.
I am not a serious student of the Bhagvadgita so cannot comment on the content. But as a web reader, one distracting thing on the site is too many things popping up every now and then. Toolbaar at the base, pictures changing as if they are from Harry Potter's world, and so on.
By the way, I scored 1000 on 1000 on the namesake quiz. Didn't bother to follow up when the site asked me to login. That's another feedback. A reader wants to read. Only few of these would bother to login, register and all that. The main concern is - why should I login? The hidden concern is - how will the information I furnish get used?
Wishing you and your website all the best,
Regards,
Pushkaraj Apte
Dear Pushkaraj - Thanks for taking the time to give a useful review. Yes - the site was originally started by me in 1997 and I have been posting content over time - so it has grown into an exhaustive website.
I shall certainly look into reducing some of these "distracting" special effects - I am so in awe of technology that when something new and snazzy comes up, I have trouble in desisting from using it - Just to see how it looks. The Wibiya toolbar is a new addition and I particularly like the video wall that comes with it since the users have one simple place to check out all the video content on the side. I shall probably remove it soon, after I have had a little time to explore it.
The "Harry Potter" carousel - has its pros and cons - I have been able to add a featured content slideshow on the sly - but perhaps, I can restrict it to just show one post any given time.
Good to know that you maxed the latest quiz. DO feel free to come back and check out the many quizzes that I have published over time in the site. We also have some interesting audio and video content that you may find interesting. Once again, thanks for your useful pointers and hope to see you as part on my Gitaaonline community.
Regards

Any takers??
Thanks Manoj - Appreciate your candid feedback. As of now, I do not plan to restrict user access and I do not anticipate doing that mainly because this is a site done purely as a hobby and built over a long time. I am getting around 200 to 300 visits per day and a reasonably good average time spent on the blog - based on google analytics.
It would be great to take it to the next level. Would you have any specific suggestions to get it more organized and user friendly.
To start with you can actually work on colors of it and be very specific in the kind of plugins you use. Each time you would like to try a new plugin (or addon) please remember that you are working on a live site and frequent changes in the layout or services confuses the users.
Also would like to request you to kindly review my blog.

Thanks Mohan. Appreciate the review from a seasoned blogger such as yourself.
Blog is Neat.. Well written content
I think your blog is missing some valuable things.
Every morning i wake up only before my laptop to see if there are new followers, But i can very hardly see the numbers increasing. When i a see one number up, that was a very beautiful day for me. I started my blog some three months back and i can make it to near hundred followers & over 1000 fans one and only because of my facebook fan page.
I suggest it for you too and all the bloggers here.
It's really that easy to create a facebook fan page. All you need is a facebook account. Once created put like box on your side bar of blog.
And thats it. each and every user who likes your blog post will become the fan and they will be notified on your new post on their facebook wall the moment after you post. What else can be more precious to you?
The next thing that is missing in your blog is sharing buttons. Just create an account on sharethis.com create your buttons, place it below your posts.
Once you do both, You can see your follower numbers increasing.
Look at my blog for how the sharing buttons & facebook like box look like.
